Yeah, but as his team's #1 option. Here he'd be like 3rd, and soon 4th or 5th. He'd kinda be perfect.

I think I would do Buch-Skjei-Georgiev for Gaudreau+.

That would certainly be a rebuild accelerator.

I'd still be trying to trade some pieces to get up in the draft though.

I'll tell you.... it might make me live with re-signing Kreider.

In this random fantasy world where we bring in Johnny hockey I have to image thats the final blow to the idea of resigning Kreider. Can't have him making 7 mil in 2 years when Johnny and Zibs both need big new contracts as well.

Talbot is a free agent after the season and Rittich the season after that. Do they have a goalie prospect they are hoping comes up soon?

Hank? Gordon here, what would think about the Pacific Northwest for a few months?

(very, very long silence . . . hello? Hank?)

Me labeling Kreider as unique and irreplaceable is not saying that we couldn’t win a cup without him or someone like him. But when I look at our current lineup and most of our better prospects, I think we definitely lack that grinding element that’s so important come playoff time. There’s no given recipe for winning a cup, but I dont think you can win with a team that’s as soft as we are. It’s something Quinn has harped on a lot this season, especially after the stinkers we’ve put up against teams like St. Louis Boston and Tampa.

The Avs trade deadline plan? Find a deal for now that won't...

“If it works out, great,” Sakic said. “But there’s obviously things we’re not willing to move, but if there’s a deal that makes sense, we’ll look to do it. With the injuries, all the guys are going to be back by the end of the year and we’ve weathered the storm earlier in the year when we had a lot of injuries, and I have all the confidence in the world we’ll do it again.”

What was Sakic referring to when he said, “things we’re not willing to move”?
Does that mean top prospects such as Vancouver Giants defenseman Bowen Byram, Boston College forward Alex Newhook and Eagles defenseman Conor Timmins will not be on the move?

“That’s a pretty good guess,” Sakic said with a smile.
He's such a goober. I hope Colorado doesn't win a thing and MacKinnon and Rantanen demand trades in a couple of years because their GM didnt make moves to improve their team for a run or two within their competitive window.

Strome, Lias and Nils for Johnny Hockey? I would do it! :)

This doesnt get you close with a team that is currently in a wild card spot out west. Not going to downgrade from Johnny to Strome.....

Leafs boards is starting to turn on Marner. They could get a haul for him. A team that has good D but weak forwards like Minnesota, Columbus, Arizona could be a partner. Nylander has the better contract but Marner is the higher-end scorer.
But boards don't make the trades

I think it's a learning process for a young team too...can't forget that this team is relying on a lot of very young players and when you put them up against veteran teams with great players who also play heavy, it's going to be tough for them.

That said, I agree re: Kreider. If you could guarantee me that this team would be a contender in 2 years I'd say 100% sign him and don't trade him. Because it's frustrating that you'll basically get pennies on the dollar for a guy like Kreider and leave a huge hole in the lineup that you'll be trying to fill for years.

How good has our 4th line been this year with Smith on it? Worst in the league? Bottom 3? Bottom 5?

It’s not our kids on D or the scoring lines that haven’t delivered.

The teams better because Smith and Haley are not playing 4th line..........DG atleast has talent and can keep up

What has Buch shown to really give an indication that he is going to blow up? There is more Max Afinigenov than Kovalev or Mogilny there.

He doesn't have to blow up. For as much as people complain about him, prorated over 82 games he's on a 51 point pace this season. 18-19 was a 49 point pace. 17-18 was a 48 point pace.

Pretty unlikely that those numbers will go down in his 26-28 year seasons.

Kreider, yes, this year is on a 64 point pace. 18-19 was a 54 point pace, and 17-18 was a 50 point pace. Seems pretty likely that Buch is a higher point producer than Kreider 3 years from now, let alone 5.

Where did we manufacture the ridiculous idea that we are getting Johnny Gaudreau so I don’t have to dig through multiple pages of this thread

Fair enough, but I think that element is a lot easier to find than pure skill.

Kreider is worth it if he fits into the roster along side that skill. IMO, not so much if he jeopardizes the construction of the roster to have the flexibility to acquire those types.

Ditto.

We paid top dollar for our rentals. Now everyone else can't be bothered. F 'em.

Johnny Hockey probably means Kreider gone

Johnny is having by all accounts an awful season by his standards (including shooting at 7.7%, well below his career average of 11.3%) and he's still going to produce more points this season than Kreider ever has.

it was reported that he has removed "Calgary" as his location on IG, it's still there. It is, however, NOT there on his twitter bio. His location is "NJ/Boston"....however I have no idea if that was recently changed to remove Calgary.

Not that it's really relevant to this conversation, but this new physical Buch we've seen the last few games is giving me a raging hockeyboner.
