How do you not see a great haul coming? Players of lesser value such as toffoli brought back very good returns. Just bc you believe we wont get a very good haul for him doesnt mean it wont happen. You need to take into account how to manage the cap and signing krieder with all the dead cap space and young core players we need to resign wouldbe crippling to it.

Signing trouba and panarin accelerates the rebuild. It does not end it. It's not a clear sign the rebuild is over but is a big step in the right direction.

Every gm is rooting for the playoffs. Means more money for the organization and job security for them. Making the playoffs isnt good enough. Again stay the course and continue the rebuild to completion. Like I have said before I've seen the dark ages and the cup and the almost cups. Younger fans have been spoiled by how we were the past 10 years. This is what it takes to build a perennial winner/dynasty. I dont want to just make the playoffs and be swept. I want to win the cup

.
Agree to disagree. Anyway take care man

I hope it’s not influencing JG but obviously the Friday game against Carolina is tantamount to a playoff game. Wonder if he’s influenced to keep Kreider thru the weekend?

It's not really all that realistic.

Look at their strength of schedule after the TDL.
Yeah and the division is still a beast. Carolina and philly are legit teams. Have to stick to the plan and if the team continues to win so be it

Fair enough. That's what makes forums great. The discussions and ability to disagree with each other but love our team, we all want what's best for the rangers

.
Of Course. I mean I’ve been pretty fair. I said if Kreider is looking for a monster deal then I understand walking away. I’m fine with trading him but I want a monster package but I’m not confident we are gonna get that. The Bruins currently have the 31st pick and a bad farm system. Colorado has the 30th overall pick and has some great prospects but I’ve heard they aren’t trading them for a rental. The Blues? Maybe but again I’ve heard they aren’t breaking the back for a rental. Plus I feel team is much further along and still has a shot at the playoffs

Agreed. I wish more fans would see this instead of the “trade everyone” posts lol

I see it. I just don't want to make a push.

I think this team is one or two more top forward prospects away from a Chicago or Pittsburgh style dynasty.

I want that, therefore I want the team to miss the playoffs one more time.

People act like tanking is the end of the world. Well, we've been deliberately selling for two years now and it hasn't hurt the upward trajectory of this team one bit, and one more sell off isn't gonna hurt us either. It's gonna help us, long term. I wish more fans would see THAT.

The way this team is heading, and it should be obvious to everyone, this is their last chance to get a top pick.

They should make it count. Instead of walking away with Dylan Holloway or Jack Drury.

Teams have to be salivating over what Kreider will bring to their teams chances of winning a Cup.

He did it all tonight. It was like he was putting on a show for the scouts.

question is will the Rangers get back what he is worth right now? My Goodness

Sorry man but at worst we are gonna end up 13 overall even if we trade CK. We aren’t tanking.

Maybe.

But then we have an extra first rounder and prospects to move up from 13 to 9 or 8 or something and get like, a Rossi or a Lundell. Huge difference from those guys to a Holloway.

And just missing the playoffs only to get the 11th-14th pick is no guarantee said pick will have any impact on the team in the next 3-5 years.

Not only that, this organization and FO wants to move forward. They are not here trying to tank for a top 3 or top 5 pick, or banking on the lottery system and getting lucky twice. They would rather have this young group make the playoffs. Just as important.

The second they signed Panarin and Trouba it was a clear sign they wanted to start competing

Kreider's agent has to be licking his chops and telling him to wait until July 1 with how well he is playing. Get traded to a team with a potential for a long playoff run, and strike gold.

Of course CK might just love it here, and say he wants to take the Rangers offer.

Clock is ticking.

Personally, I think his upside is higher.

Studnicka has never made me think he could be a first line center if all the pieces come together. Newhook has.

Newhook is kinda perfect for what we need. Too bad it seems he's not on the table.

Wheeler projects him as a "line driving 2nd liner" or possibly a solidly contributing first liner. Absent landing a true fairy tale like Eichel or McDavid or whatever, true #1 centers, getting Newhook as a high end 2/possible 1 basically insulates us down the middle indefinitely. Zibanejad stays? Newhook is a dominant #2 center, Chytil moves to wing. Zibanejad goes or is traded? Newhook and Chytil are both elite #2 centers/functional #1 centers, especially surrounded by unending wing talent in Kakko, Panarin, Kravtsov, Buch, and our 2020 first round pick, Alexander Holtz.

I would ADD to get Newhook. Too bad.

A 5 year deal is perfect for us.. It may be worth overpayin on AAV for Kreider.

In 5-7 years is when all of our youngins start getting that UFA money after their bridge deals. Assuming the new CBA doesn't change anything drastically.
