Would anyone trade Shesterkin to the Avalanche for Rantanen? The Avs might need a goalie with Grubauer hurt. Why not offer them the best one? Rantanen won't help them this year since he's hurt but that's fine we can wait.

Look I know you want to trade him no matter what and that is your right but things are different now. Team is playing really good and there is still a chance for the playoffs if things go right. Gorton is asking for a monster package for Kreider and I’m not convinced anybody will do that no matter how good Kreider has been. The last two deadlines I was all for trading assets but those guys had no shot of being part of the future but CK is a little different especially the chemistry of that line with Mika and Buch

I dont want to trade him no matter what. If he would accept 5 years then I'm okay with it but he is not going to leave 10-14million on the table.

I have been watching the rangers since the late 80s so I have seen the dark times and the cup win and I want more cup wins... not to just make the playoffs. We are not there yet and trading krieder for a very good return is very worth it esp having the extra cap space to resign our young CORE. Krieders contract will be one that you and other who want him signed long term will want to buy out by year 5-7.

If you have watched krieder his entire career he is incredibly streaky and right now he is on a tear. Which is why he will get a great haul from a trade.

Our team is about the young players. And creating a team like the Bruins hawks and pens, being perennial cup contenders for years. In my opinion signing ck to that 7y 7m aav will cause a big problem for that.

People have false hope because of this tear and it's all against teams around our ability. When we played the Bruins it showed we are NOT ready for the big show

There are teams around the Rangers that are falling. CBJ, NYI. They have games in hand on others. MTL and BUF are bad. CAR seems to be getting it together. Rangers could conceivably make a push

However once we signed Panarin and Trouba it was a clear sign we wanted to compete for the playoffs. So yeah I’m still rooting for the playoffs and it seems like Gorton is too

How do you not see a great haul coming? Players of lesser value such as toffoli brought back very good returns. Just bc you believe we wont get a very good haul for him doesnt mean it wont happen. You need to take into account how to manage the cap and signing krieder with all the dead cap space and young core players we need to resign wouldbe crippling to it.

Signing trouba and panarin accelerates the rebuild. It does not end it. It's not a clear sign the rebuild is over but is a big step in the right direction.

Every gm is rooting for the playoffs. Means more money for the organization and job security for them. Making the playoffs isnt good enough. Again stay the course and continue the rebuild to completion. Like I have said before I've seen the dark ages and the cup and the almost cups. Younger fans have been spoiled by how we were the past 10 years. This is what it takes to build a perennial winner/dynasty. I dont want to just make the playoffs and be swept. I want to win the cup.
