So Bob reiterated

1). A 1st
2) A top prospect
3) 3rd element -player, prospect or pick
4) conditional pick if Kreider re-signs where he’s traded
That's the ask. We all need to remember that the ask is rarely the actual return though

Would have to be higher end player in his prime.

Again, not something is months in the making, but not quite as unheard of as one might think.

I have to really tread carefully when I’m asked these questions, because the probability of hysteria goes up considerably. Next thing I know, my words are being misconstrued and I am chasing down quotes I never gave.
Wow, so you're saying that we're banking assets to trade for McDavid when he asks out of Edmonton in a year? Thanks for the inside info, Edge!

Well in fairness if the discussion is in regards to someone like Eichel it makes sense as they would request significant pieces.

Please no if you're reading this JG please no. We are starting to turn the corner and a move for Nylander for the package would not be good.

You know that I'm agreeing with you. Miller if traded would need to be for a legit superstar.

not going to happen. I'll eat my own shit and livestream it to you guys if we get Newhook.

Well the Avs don’t have the “top prospect” part of the “first, top prospect, and impactful NHL asset” if they are excluding Byram and Newhook.

His words were that's what they expect to get.
I watched it. That's perceived as the ask. They aren't going to say we expect x but we will take z. The selling team always puts out what they want, and what they get is almost always less. Just being realistic, doing anything less than realistic is setting yourself up to be disappointed

The term top prospect is so subjective in nature. We've heard 2nd and 3rd round picks referred to in the past as a high picks

The idiocy of drooling over the spare parts in exchange for Kreider...

Wow, an interchangeable prospect AND a conditional draft pick that carries a 6% chance to be a legitimate player.
. It has no shot of happening. Nobody is giving up a huge return for a rental just not gonna happen

Studnicka is a prospect I like, a lot. However, his status and projections surrounding him have kind of taken on a life of their own over the last 12 months or so.

He’s a very good prospect, but I don’t think he’s a great, potential star player type prospect. And I feel like a lot of chatter around him has kind of drifted into the latter territory.
And how do you feel about newhook? Is he in a similar spot as studnika or would you consider him a cut above?

I’m sorry but a package of

1st
Top prospect
Lesser prospect/player
Conditional pick

for Kreider as Bob mentions makes me HOPE Gorton does the smart thing and moves him. That’s a substantial package.

he said thats what the rangers expect to get back, that doesn't mean anyone is offering anything close to it

Do you want to keep Kreider if it means DeAngelo gets pushed out?

Because thats the most likely outcome IMO.

this is not the most likely outcome...the most likely outcome is that strome is dealt. Kreider and DeAngelo have NOTHING to do with each other because if DeAngelo is traded he will be dealt for a top forward who will make as much $$ or more than ADA. so if they can afford kreider and that forward, then they could also afford Kreider and ADA.

if anything trading ADA means they can't keep kreider cause the player in return will take up too much of the forward budget to also give kreider a huge deal.

and lastly I doubt they just traded keane to turn around and trade ADA.

If Kreider is re-signed, I think it stands to reason that the Rangers will put the pedal down on the push for the playoffs. Could definitely see a prize prospect or two going for established, high end players in their prime. Without Hank going though it's going to be a tough cap situation to navigate.

i have no idea how to make the cap work but man I really want to see a top 6 of kreider-zibanejad-buchnevich, panarin-chytil-kakko

the depth/bottom 6 would be hurting next year until all the $$ comes off the book...but if you can keep that top 6 intact when you get thru next year and have all that cap space man we'd be in business.

like I said i'm not sure how we can make the math work but still...
