I think they lower their asking price if/when the time comes

Pagnotta gets shat on for some reason but hes pretty good.

Well that's what I'm wondering. Are they still on the fence about trading him, do they feel like they can re-sign him if they don't get that ask? Or is it bluster and they'll take less at the deadline because they really do need/want to trade him

If given the choice would you prefer a B prospect and a 1st or an A prospect and a 3rd?

EI
Newhook and a 3rd
Or
Beacher and a 1st

Just hypothetical
not even close would take A. and Beecher is a good prospect with nice size.
I know its supposed to be a good draft but that Boston pick could be 30ish.

If the Rangers are allowing selective permission to talk to Kreider's camp

The Rangers are trying to extend Kreider to a discount by letting him talk to teams who may offer him UFA market rate?

Or they believe those teams will also try to get a discount and he'll think that is all he'll be offered as a pure UFA so he'll give the Rangers a discount even though he has not been given permission to talk to all the teams?

And the truth is, from a certain perspective, you're right --- in some ways they are.

We're at the point where some of these conversations and decisions are going to get awfully uncomfortable. And quite a few of those are going to center around Lundqvist.

Very few people would ever dare say so publicly, but if Lundqvist announced his retirement tomorrow, there would be a collective sigh of relief.

I'll say it.

I'm so ready for the next version of this team.

No player should have so much sway on decisions made by the front office, I dont care how good they may have been

Personally I feel that both want to work out a new deal. If Gorton had no interest in Kreider he would have been gone by now. Also only the Bruins and Colorado are left as the favorite and both hold the lowest draft pick and one had no farm system while the other is not giving up their top prospects. Like I said my preference is to sign him for many reasons unless we get blown away by an offer but I honestly don’t see anybody matching our asking price

They sat out Nash and Grabner two games before the deadline that year.

That being said there was little to no interest in resigning either.

Gorton holds some leverage by keeping the idea alive that he could resign Kreider at any moment, but it’s a risk if his true intentions are to trade him all along.

Exactly. Nash and Grabner were gone. Let’s be honest the main reason we got so much for Nash was based on his career as a whole. He wasn’t the same player anymore although he started getting more goals as we got closer to the deadline which helped. Kreider is young enough where he can still be a big factor since we are planning to compete next year. Let’s be honest whether some want to admit it or not we would be a playoff team if not for our extremely tough division.
