Because after next year, $20 million in cap space opens up, and if you’re only looking at $1.9-2.4 million raise for Kreider, you just need the extra space to navigate next year’s cap.
In this scenario that means they’re totally fine committing close 50 million to him with trade protection then?

That’s concerning to me

Between what @Edge has said here and what I was told elsewhere, my guess is that the Rangers aren’t doing 7 on both figures. If Kreider wants $7 million, the Rangers aren’t prepared to go 7 years. If he wants the years, the AAV isn’t going to be near $7 million.

Team made from scraps by 30 NHL teams have become a perennial NHL contender for the next decade it seems.

So regardless he’s going to have to leave money on the table

How much would you expect him to leave if that ends up happening

If they meet in the middle, $6-8 million, which is about Panarin did last year. It’s pretty obvious that if Kreider wants to stay, he’s going to have to give some kind of discount.

Seth Jones comes to mind, but I’m not trying to make a foolish statement and suggest that that’s what Nylander will be traded for.

All I’m saying is players as young as Nylander who are signed long term and have already had very successful careers are very unlikely to be moved for a package like Skjei+Geo. That’s just a weak offer.

I could see Dubas try and target a very good young dmen as a basis for a trade with the way his team is composed and their desire to open up cap space.

Will he get that? Probably not, but that’s why I think he’d target over Skjei+Geo.

You don’t see players like Nylander moved very often, just like you don’t see young dmen with big potential.
I figured that would be the only one that came up. The other is drouin sergachev but drouin was still on his elc when traded.

Seth even to that point Jones was in his 3rd year coming off elc and ryjo was on a perceived sweetheart deal of 4mil a year coming off a 71pt season as a perceived 1c.

I think it's safe to say I'm retrospect both teams that trade D men regret the deals.

If given the choice would you prefer a B prospect and a 1st or an A prospect and a 3rd?

EI
Newhook and a 3rd
Or
Beacher and a 1st

Just hypothetical

Bobfather said on NBC that they want a 1st, top prospect, roster player/lesser prospect, and a conditional pick if he resigns for Kreider.

Fast, looking for a 2nd and maybe a small add.

Georgiev price is sky high. We know the Hank news, said offseason and could even be bought out.

Also, still taking calls on Lias Andersson. Unlikely moved before deadline, but still possible.

Echoes what Pagnotta at TFP said.
