And if he does there's nothing wrong with that. We acquired the asset for Ryan freaking Spooner.

on the same page. If the Rangers get more, great but I’m thinking Zucs return. Again, I might have him go to arbitration and keep him until another center develops and trade him next year at this time. Same with ADA.

Is Buch being traded dependent on re-signing Kreider? I heard Bob McKenzie say something like Strome, Buch or DeAngelo gets moved if the Rangers re-sign Kreider.

Not necessarily.

Because at least two of those guys are most likely bringing a decent salary or two back.

In other words, I don't see the Rangers trading ADA to Colorado for Byram and Newhook.

If the Rangers can get a first for Strome, my God, get it now. But I dont think anyone would be that desperate for him. Also feel like Toffoli is more sexy name around the league given he has been dangled out there for several weeks. However, if you can get a second and a Madden level type forward prospect you make that deal.

As good as Strome has been with Panarin I don't see him long term with this team. Sell high on this guy, grab a good prospect and another pick you can package together with other assets and either move up in the draft or trade for a top young guy.

I'm at the point where I'd like to stockpile assets and overpay for a high-end forward prospect who's got really good potential.

oh boy, hope I didn’t interrupt your twitter schedule lol. Com’on

1- somehow I don’t see how trading your non-rental Captain and former 1st around pick within the Conference for an ok prospect the same as trading asking Spooner for McDavid. (No, you don’t have to break down the whole trade, I’m aware)

2 - perhaps I should clarify he’s built like a truck which is different than an overweight fella wearing a jersey. His numbers are solid and the Rangers gave up on him fast. His COD at that size is nice and his production is proving his worth.

3- i never said resign him. I wanted him traded while the return, see #1

Don't worry. I had some time to kill before boarding my flight to Stockholm.

No

Buchnevich is better than Strome is every way. I'll take the worse return in a trade but also keep the better player

Buch is more valuable but if I’m getting a Zucker or Coleman return then I might prefer that to dealing Strome for a Grabner return. Strome married to Panarin might very well outproduce Buch the next few years.

A Buchnevich to Colorado trade for some sort of salary coming back could mean maybe Compher? Although he just signed that deal

I’d be surprised if they moved CK and Buch at the deadline but stranger things have happened.

that’s a lot to move. My gosh, if they moved Strome too . . . .

I guess that means quite a few get instant promotions

Numbers are on the table for Kreider, still as much as a 8 figure gap on the value of the deal.

Don't rule out Dallas as a possible landing spot for Kreider.

Don't rule out Buch as a possible target for the Avs.

I've always thought Dallas made a lot of sense for Kreider. In any event, there should be some level of interest from at least St. Louis, Dallas, Colorado and Boston. Not sure what other teams make sense in terms of fit for Kreider, not on his no-trade list, and a package they'd be willing to give up.

The rumors were that Gorton was close to trading both Kreider and Buch around last years draft. If he was open to trading both of them at that point, why would we assume he wouldn't be comfortable, assuming his price is met, again?

I think the trade in itself sucked, but in the broad picture, I don't think Gorton must be hanged for it because he wanted to jump start the rebuild. Not really sold on that he would have gotten less at the draft. Neither were rentals and should have returned more than super late 1st plus a B-tier prospect each. I think that was more or less what we got. And everything indicates that we did overrate Namestnikov just like we did with Etem. I think that -- pro scouting -- is something we can improve. JMHO.

Not willing to write off Howden and Hajak though. Besides when Lundkvist beats Lidström's Norris Trophy record all this debate will be mute. ;)

Lets not forget too, the Lightning had a real good shot at winning a Cup within the trade condition window. If that broke the right way the Rangers could have Veleno, Suzuki, Pinto, Kaliyev or Brink within the organization right now.

I feel like it was more one or the other though in the summer

i.e if Buch had actually went to Edmonton, then Kreider maybe would have been re-signed. But maybe I'm wrong

If Gorton is looking to gut the team at the deadline to ensure the team potentially loses more for a better pick, trading both Kreider and Buch makes sense. But I'm sure that's not what he wants lol
