The rumors were that Gorton was close to trading both Kreider and Buch around last years draft. If he was open to trading both of them at that point, why would we assume he wouldn't be comfortable, assuming his price is met, again?

I can’t remember a team trading 3 top 6 forwards at one time. Talk about throwing the kids to the wolves. I could see CK or Buchnevich then possibly Strome if they believe they are selling high on him.

My theory- Kravtsov, Kakko, and Andersson developing slower than possibly projected might make a difference.

I think NYR should be more hesitant to move a young, proven, affordable 2nd line winger in Buchnevich, now that they know Kravtsov isn't quite ready to step in and fill that void. It at least gives them one more pre-RFA status year to make assessments.

“At the draft.” Not mid season. Plus, we don’t know that they would’ve moved both or just one or the other.

I don't see the Rangers trading Buch specifically for pure futures. So perhaps there would be a young forward prime for more ice time involved.

We've also speculated that a Kreider deal may include some type of depth forward (like Heinen) coming back the other way.

So theoretically if the deals were:

Compher + _____ for Buch

Heinen + Frederic + BOS 1st for Kreider @ 50%

Then you have at least replaced the NHL bodies with guys who are a bit younger and can play right now as 3rd liners. Perhaps not ideal for the final 20 games of the year but guys like Lemieux, Kaako and Chytil are given the chance to gain more playing time and experience

Strome for COL 2nd and Jost.

Georgiev for Labanc and 2nd.

Fast for (2) 3rd with conditions attached to become 2nds.

Kreider can go either way for me right now. I obviously want him re-signed but I am not willing to give him a blank check. Anything over $7 aav, 6 years or more is a blank check.

Buchnevich can go either way for me as well. But lets say they did re-sign Kreider. Potential lines to finish the season:

Kreider-Zib-Buch
Panarin-Chytil-Labanc
Lemieux-Jost-Kakko
DiGuiseppe-McKegg-Howden

Maybe Gorton grabs a cheap vet for the 4th line that only costs a 4th round pick.

EDIT: Forgot Howden...but they could still use an upgrade on that line

Who is this in response to? Me? By 'All' do you mean Strome, Kreider and Buch or just Kreider and Buch?

All three. I don't think they're going to ship out a combined 50 goals and 127 points all at once. Not at a TDL.

Maybe two of those contracts, but even then I think it would take an offer that really impresses them.

a very soft team. not interested in Jost at all. rather get another Lemeiux type. Kreider to reunite with Stepan in Arizona, shocked they have not been mentioned.

That doesn't mean he ever had any intention of trading both of them. I still think it's one or the other, with Kreider the most likely to be traded.

hmmm

This is a tough one for me, I like Gauthier but Keane could be very solid, and if Carolina likes him, that should tell us something
