Is Buch being traded dependent on re-signing Kreider? I heard Bob McKenzie say something like Strome, Buch or DeAngelo gets moved if the Rangers re-sign Kreider.

Numbers are on the table for Kreider, still as much as a 8 figure gap on the value of the deal.

Don't rule out Dallas as a possible landing spot for Kreider.

Don't rule out Buch as a possible target for the Avs.
8 figure gap. Could be $10 million were talking. Over the course of 7 years thats a $1.42 aav difference. Thats kinda concerning if for instance the Rangers offered a $6 million aav. That would mean Kreider’s camp is asking for over $7 million aav in this exercise. Of course the Rangers could have started with $5.7 aav, which is unlikely and that would be Kreider right around $7 aav in terms of the gap. Now if both sides were serious about a deal they could compromise and come in at $6.75-$7 range on the aav. Again these are all hypotheticals.

Am i looking at this right @Edge ?

Yup, and there will definitely be some posters that will cry once the deal goes down and none of those players arent included. You don’t get a teams top Prospect for a rental. It doesn’t happen.

Yeah, but Newhook isn't the Avs' top prospect. :sarcasm:

Combination of dollars and years.

Now, I think the Rangers can close that gap somewhat, but Kreider would need to come down on both. If the Rangers go to 7 years, the average salary has to come down --- considerably.

A 10 million+ gap between Gorton and Kreider, it's ova

Kreider would be a dummy to not go UFA

Yeah, they're probably about $1.5-million per year apart. How many players his age having a career year, with unrestricted free agency on the horizon, re-sign before the season is even over?

So are you hearing or thinking they are at 5 years in their offer which is affecting the overall dollar amount too?

Buch would fit with the mold that Sakic seems to prefer over an upcoming UFA. I'd expect a pretty good main piece back along with their 1st though

Level headed people will analyze all aspects of the situation when that time comes. What they won't do is run to massively overpay a player just because he's comfortable, which is the Kreider vibe you give off with nearly every post.
Giving Kreider 7M$ is over paying now? What non-sense.

If we keep Strome over Buch, Kreider or DeAngelo same for me.

If your choice out of those 4 players is to trade one so you can keep the other 3, I don't know how Strome isn't the one you trade.

If I was Gorton, I'd be fielding offers on (3) of the (4) and seeing who has the most value while understanding their prospective next contracts. Just because he moves Kreider and say Buch at this deadline doesn't mean Strome will be around long-term ether.

Oh boy. Where do I begin?

1. Sergachev was never available. Complaining about this is as ridiculous as saying we didn't get McDavid for Spooner.

2. Why does Miller's weight matter? Miller didn't really perform when it mattered most, the post-season. That's more telling than what the scale points at when he's on it.

3. McDonagh's downside was his next contract. Can you imagine 7.5m AAV for 8 years? That's what you're looking at. Not really what I'd want. And it would have meant no Panarin.

oh boy, hope I didn’t interrupt your twitter schedule lol. Com’on

1- somehow I don’t see how trading your non-rental Captain and former 1st around pick within the Conference for an ok prospect the same as trading asking Spooner for McDavid. (No, you don’t have to break down the whole trade, I’m aware)

2 - perhaps I should clarify he’s built like a truck which is different than an overweight fella wearing a jersey. His numbers are solid and the Rangers gave up on him fast. His COD at that size is nice and his production is proving his worth.

3- i never said resign him. I wanted him traded while the return, see #1
