i don't keep track of other teams' prospects but wasn't Nolan Foote the lesser of the two feet that the TBL had? Cal Foote was their better foot right?

It doesn't add anything to the package. If you are offered a package for Kreider, and that trade can only go through with retention, you don't have a choice. You have no leverage.

Salary retention for a contract with term (i.e. Yandle) is a different story

Or the buyer can look elsewhere for a worse asset. It works both ways including the buyer who needs to pay for a preferred option that they cannot fit otherwise unless seller retains.

Guarantee Kreider's gonna get an awful return relative to the market

Because God hates the Rangers apparently

I hope JG is timing this right. If the kings get another top prospect like Hoglander wtf

Probably. We are gonna lose a type of player that’s hard to find for The 30th overall pick and a B level prospect....yippee lol

No inside info, but my gut feel is that next Monday will live up to your wildest of outcomes:

1. Kreider resigns
2. Henrik accepts a trade to Colorado
3. Another unexpected piece (Skjei) is part of that Colorado deal.
4. You’re not getting one of the Avs prized prospects in return
5. Georgiev stays
6. JD makes two other deals, Strome to STL and Hajek is flipped elsewhere with Fast.

I’ll play along...

1. Kreider is traded
2. Lundqvist is not traded
3. Fast is traded
4. Georgiev is traded
5. Skjei is ... lol

Oh, come on about making him play in a playoff run.

It doesn't happen very often but it has happened, for sure. Going back as far as I can remember:
Rucinsky (NYR)
Weight (STL)
Tkachuk (STL)
Vermette (ARI)
Michalik (ARI)
Jokinen (CGY)
Plekanec (MTL)
Moulson (BUF)
Del Zotto (ANA)

I'm sure I'm missing some as well. But that's like 1 every 2 years or so. Again, not likely.

First, kudos to a great hockey memory, impressive. Second, 1 every two or even three years sounds right and given the annual UFA market, pretty uncommon.

Are the Rangers and Kreider really talking contract or is this the Rangers offering like 4x4 before unloading him.

It's good for the Rangers to "Negotiate" with Chris's agent because it makes teams bidding for his services think the Rangers have more leverage- that is, that they don't feel like they need to trade him.

As to the reality behind your question- no idea.
