I doubt any NHLer has Vancouver on his no trade list. I have seen this a few times and don't think any of you get out. It is not Winnipeg. Van is warmer then most USA NHL cities(almost never snows, basically 45-50ish all winter), is easily the most beautiful large city in north America, has a ton todo and very good looking woman. It is a mix of Miami(night life, restaurants and wealth), Hollywood(a lot of filming goes on) and San Jose(very techie, especially with video gaming industry) but a Canadian version and is right on the water but butted up against the mountains.

You should tell Kreider, not me.

The no-trade list pretty much ensures that Chris Kreider won’t be going to Canada. Hence, Ilya Kovalchuk to the Canadiens rather than the delicious prospect of a union six years in the making between No. 20 and Carey Price.

It's been reported he has all Canadian teams on his no trade list. It's not a personal offense, he just doesn't want to live in a different country, or maybe he doesn't want to deal with the media.
I have seen people say that but no links... Also I get it with most CA cities, Vancouver is not like those. It is not as hockey crazy either. Don't get me wrong it is still CA but the attention you get is more along the lines of a good hockey market in the USA.

Fill me in you clown.

Nothing I hate more than the takes about players in this sense. Lundqvist is notorious for his work ethic and preparation and professionalism. He’s had a Hall of Fame career and you still see stories about how hard he works and prepares. It’s basically his defining characteristic. So he was a Hall of Famer on the ice and off the ice as well behind the scenes but smiling publicly is just too much for some of the incel section of the fanbase to come to grips with. Always has been.

The same idiots who complain about Mika being a DJ or Auston Matthews being in fashion magazines. Are these guys supposed to sit like statues staring at the wall until the next hockey practice or game?

I think Pageau is talented but way streakier than Kreider, for example. I would never call a player lazy, I dont think that's the issue. But focus is not always great with this one. And i also think GMs are aware of this.

Given these prices I would be looking at moving more than others would be comfortable with.

I would for sure move Kreider and Georgiev. I probably would move one or two of Fast, Buch and Strome too. Skeleton crew for the rest of the season, who cares? I’d re-sign DeAngelo though I’d keep some movement ability in that contract in case he’s surpassed by Fox and Lundkvist.

Then I’d have literally piles of asset to accomplish a rounding out of the future top 6 (Panarin, Zbad, Kakko, Kravtov, Chytil, and _______ ) and restock the lower lines with future prospects.

what about the rest of the package + the inevitable salary retention that is going to take place?
Not as high on Madden as some here. Decent prospect. 2nd round pick.

If we arent getting a 1st + top prospect i will be disappointed given it being a sellers market and we have the #1 guy on the board

Upgrade both pieces. 1st and a better prospect and perhaps more.

Would like to move Strome for the toffoli package if not slightly more since he is under control one more year.

I am reminded of the Callahan deal for the tale of caution about signing guys too long. For Chris, 5 years under 7 is worth it otherwise sorry bud. Fast is 4 years at 3 per or he too can go.

I think that geo is an off-season thing, same with Brady (time to sell). Would love to package both plus Smith to Detroit - return would be reduced for the cap dump but I think a package of a roster forward, prospect and a couple of 2nds is fair.

This does not say every team in CA is on his no trade list. Sounds like he had MON on that list and maybe some others but "pretty much" does not sound very convincing. Also just sounds like speculation from bus stop Larry. Sportsnet and TSN said it is assumed he has some CA teams on his no trades list but they don't know. If TSN and Sportsnet don't know Larry does not know, Larry has not had the same insights since Gorton took over. I think VAN, PITT and TB are out but it has nothing to do with his no trade list.

just my opinion but i cant believe anyone who has been to montreal would put montreal on their no-trade list.

Will Wednesdays game against Chicago be the final game for Kreider in a Rangers sweater?

With the level of return we are looking at it would be smart to hold him out of the lineup like they have done with Nash and others in the past...

Then we can really stoke the hot stove

I would get it more than I get Vancouver but I agree with you. I just see VAN lumped in with EMD and WIN and that would be like lumping in San Jose with those two cites.
I have never been to VAN but it sounds beautiful and I'm sure it is. Personally, I'd much rather play in VAN or MTL than TOR for example. Or Detroit or Minneapolis, for that matter. In fact, i wonder if the expectation re Kreider's no-trade list is based on anything but speculation. I have no idea, i'm just wondering if Kreider would legit say 'no' to Montreal but 'yes' to, say, Dallas or Columbus.

Labanc, Jost, Athanasiou.

Those are the forwards I would be looking at in a deal around Georgiev. All skate and would give us much needed depth in the top 9, extending certain players to the 4th line

Definitely sort of lends credibility to the base we've been kicking around for months. 1st, B prospect and a spare roster player. I'm lukewarm on Madden but this should give Gorton some good leverage in trade talks.

Don't discount the significance of jumping from a 2nd to a 1st though. That's a lot of value in a pretty deep draft class.

The biggest significance is that we probably won't draft a goaltender. :sarcasm:
