Careful, we did the same thing expecting Sergachev for McDonah and a 1st for Zuccarello.Would you be satisfied with Byram OR newhook alone, nothing else added.

I'm not contract law specialist but he would have to pay that $1MM bonus back if he retired after receiving on July 1st or that $1MM would count against the cap if the Rangers chose to let him keep it.
I believe his actual salary is $4.5MM next year so he'd be walking away from $3.5MM.
I think we've reached the point where $3.5M is "no big deal" and Lundqvist should walk away from it "for the good of the team."
Anyway, I think something has to happen with Lundqvist pretty soon. If not the trade deadline, then certainly before the start of next season. You can see the signs already, but it would really really stink of the fanbase grows to resent a guy who has given all he had to this franchise. And for what? Because there's not a market out there for an overpaid 38 year old goaltender?
Of course. But GMs do not trade elite prospects for a rental. It just won't happen, especially with Sakic. If we want one of those in a Kreider trade there would have to be more pieces (like one of our prospects going back..Miller? Lundkvist? etc)Would you be satisfied with Byram OR newhook alone, nothing else added.

Meanwhile, I wouldn’t even bother picking up the phone with Dallas. If the resigned Zucs the Rangers would have had a #1. Text us an offer and we’ll respond Dallas. Otherwise, get lost.
What do you guys think it will take to get the rights to Jessie puljujarvi?
I wasn't suggesting it so much as a realistic proposal as I was seeing if people would actually package those two assets. Usually teams/fans want assets split bc they feel they can get "more," but we are at the stage of get the best single piece you can.Careful, we did the same thing expecting Sergachev for McDonah and a 1st for Zuccarello.
Where's Boomer when you need himWe’re less than a week until the TDL and I need some actual rumors. Seems like the “insiders” are really slacking. In the NBA you have Woj breaking stuff left and right and in the NHL it seems like we get Friedman or LeBrun tweeting “I’m hearing something with XYZ...” and then the teams official account posts a transaction a minute later.
No inside info, but my gut feel is that next Monday will live up to your wildest of outcomes:
1. Kreider resigns
2. Henrik accepts a trade to Colorado
3. Another unexpected piece (Skjei) is part of that Colorado deal.
4. You’re not getting one of the Avs prized prospects in return
5. Georgiev stays
6. JD makes two other deals, Strome to STL and Hajek is flipped elsewhere with Fast.
FWIW - I totally agree - I think the way we handled Shatty sent a bad message / set a bad precedent. And probably undermines the chances of Kreider doing the same.If Kreider said to his agent, "I'm thinking of going short term to be a team player for the rangers", exhibit A from the agent is Shattenkirk and why that is out of the question. Kreider can make his choice, but that loyalty might not be a 2 way street. Shattenkirk could have gotten another 3 years at $6.5m. I doubt he makes that up in the rest of playing days.
My intention isn't to be preachy, and you found an example when requested during a conversation. I'm just working through it in my head. CK had a front row seat to business in the NHL.
Hells yea (won't happen but yes)Would you be satisfied with Byram OR newhook alone, nothing else added.
DAMMIT!!You'd move them for Shane Bowers?!?
Grubauer out indefinitely. Could there be a trade for king Henrik on the horizon?

I don't think we mishandled the Shatty situation -- and I don't think it was Gorts' Plan A....I think it was final move of a list -- none of which panned out -- and I believe Gorts tried to come up with some kind of deal. But everyone knew he was in a corner, so why would another GM make a trade anything for a player who would come free and cheap?FWIW - I totally agree - I think the way we handled Shatty sent a bad message / set a bad precedent. just saying, you never know what the Venn diagram of nyc and hometown discounts will produce. We’ve seen stranger things. And plenty of not strange things too.
