A few general thoughts about some of the ongoing conversations in this thread:
1. Being a smaller defenseman isn't a death sentence in today's NHL. But having a RD comprised of ADA, Fox, Lundkvist and/or Keane would present a lot of struggles. Balance will be the key.
2. Regarding listed heights/weights of players, it's a very political subject. Having worked on media guides in my past life, you're dealing with perceived size standards for positions, agents wanting their clients to be listed different, teams wanting guys' vitals changed, etc. That's why Brian Leetch went from 5'11, 185 to 6'1, 200 magically in his late 20s. I think during the height of the LOD in Philadelphia, Mark Messier suddenly became 6'2. It still happens today. Teams are leery about some weights being listed too low or too high, and 6'0 is still a threshold in the sport.
3. So here's the latest I have on the trade fronts:
- San Jose stepping up talks about Georgiev. Toronto still very interested.
- Boston and Rangers actively swapping names re: Kreider. Colorado still very interested.
- Dallas, Nashville and St. Louis among the teams kicking the tires on Fast.
- Calgary has asked about Andersson a few times.
- Nothing doing with Edmonton at the moment.
- Carolina has asked about a few guys, including Georgiev and Skjei.
