Buchnevich is a guy that, I think, is going to figure it out and when he does we’re all going to lament trading him for a 2nd rounder or whatever he’s going to get

.
I think he is what he is. I like Buch but I don’t think all of a sudden he is gonna become a great player. I do think he can score more than he has shown this season but I don’t think losing him would be a big blow if we did it. Obviously I would want more than a 2nd though

Mirtle believes the Rangers will have a tough time getting a quality young NHL player for Georgiev and they will have to lower their price. He believes Gregoriev’s value is hurt by the expansion draft. An NHL executive called Georgiev “intriguing”.

Mirtle needs to take a closer look at the goaltending situations around the NHL. There is not a better option than Georgiev. He could start on many teams as their #1. He is the best goaltender on the Rangers. So many teams don’t have a goalie worth protecting in expansion. We will see. The Rangers should wait until the summer.

Georgiev is three years away from Group III. Talbot was a different case. He had signed a one year contract extension during the 14-15 season. He could not sign another contract until January 1st of the 15-16 season. Talbot had just a one year contract and then he was unrestricted.
Don’t get ruffled RB. Mirtle is just working the Toronto angle. Trying to lower the perception of the player via media to be used in negotiations.

It’s clown show stuff

See the truth Is we’ve watched all 60 games and know what Georgie is, what Kreider is, what mac is, what Miller is, all these guys. We know

The outside media, most of them are working with an angle their outlets or sources want them too.

So F em

You’re not getting the NHL’s second leading scorer for a combination of lesser assets. Even Nylander for a package of Skjei/Geo/Kravstov is very unrealistic, imo.
It’s like the equivalent of 3 1st rounders and they are plug and play. Your understating the value of the package

Why is Detroit moving a 25 year old top-6 wing, pending RFA, in the middle of rebuild? Not even mentioning that the package proposed there is essentially valueless.
Maybe AA doesn’t love Detroit. They had a contentious RFA negotiation. He was rumored to be available then. Truth is he’s what 2 seasons away from UFA, maybe yzerman sees what’s gonna happen down the road and would jump at a buch for AA swap. Isn’t AA a 5m salary right now though?

Know he has wheels, does he fit the criteria of guy who looks like his main purpose in hockey is to drive the net every chance he gets. Cuz wheels and 20g ability @ wing for 5m isn’t appealing. But if he’s a puck and net hound who has knack for finishing that may fit well with Mika or panarin and the production may benefit from it

Mirtle and Dubas probably see eye to eye a lot, as more analytically driven observers, and he runs the biggest publication for hockey out there. I'm sure he's getting his information direct.

Shannon is getting his info from Slats. It's been that way forever. When Shannon speaks it's likely cause Slats said something to him.

We're letting everyone know Georgiev isn't going anywhere unless we get a lot of value for him and that's how it should be. This isn't Raanta or Talbot. This is a young goalie, with years of control, playing nearly as a #1 if not he's playing at a 1B level, with room to grow in a #1.

I'm not sure the Leafs are the team. Really think that the team that sticks out is Vegas. Fleury is old and while he has 2 years left after this. I'm not sure you can count on him being this good for another contract. Subban is meh at best. They can tandem Fleury and Georgiev. They have tons of assets. I could see them stepping up.

Sometimes I think about all the goalies that were available to Vegas in the expansion draft and how they ended up with Malcolm Subban as their backup.

Probably reading way too much into it, but I do wonder if the Rangers have a Lundqvist retirement in their pocket and are using it to drive up the price. Hank agrees to retire at the end of this year so Georgie and Shesty can take over, or the Rangers get a price they simply can't refuse and he plays out his contract to mentor Shesty. Idk. I'm three beers deep already.

I don't know that they would, but maybe AA isn't interested in staying there long term. Maybe they don't see him as part of the core, but rather as a trade chip that can net them valuable futures for the rebuild.
Exactly. Plus he was a hard RFA negotiation for Detroit already under holland.

To clarify. I could see yzerman wanting buch and offering a AA swap. Don’t think the rangers see enough value for buch there

Now andersson and whichever goalie can go the UFA rougte this summer. That’s a smart play by the rangers and smart by Detroit.

While the kid may not sign with Detroit over 30 other teams during the summer, he may be excited to sign with them this spring and get a chance to grab a NHL spot right off the bat with a team you know yzerman will surround you with better and better players going forward

I realize this, but I think a lot of people are expecting a hometown discount instead of looking at what the market generally has been for player like Kreider. I think he realizes this is his last big payday.
For sure. But I’m just looking at the apparent possibilities. I really don’t see a point in predicting what *will* happen. But it’s fun for me to say: these are the possibilities and here’s what I’d do in each case. And in my opinion, if Kreider will take 4-5 years at say $6m, I do it. If he wants 6 or 7. I don’t.

With Georgiev, it depends more on Hank. But I still think trading G - selling high - makes a lot of sense either way. I like the idea of Henrik as 25-35 game backup/mentor to Igor for another year or even two. While opening up the competition for the backup role to Huska, Wall, and even Lindbom.

And a sizeable chunk of those people want him back only on terms Kreider would never consider.
Yep. And that’s a totally reasonable and fair stance on management’s part. Put the ball in CK’s court. I’m kind of surprised they haven’t yet. Assuming reports of ‘no negotiations’ are correct.

I think a lot of us who watch the team could see that happening. From fans to staff members

If that’s the case throw in a 2nd on top of that and just target McDavid instead.
We know it doesn’t work like that.

But I think you could get a first for skjei, a first for kravtsov, and give Georgie another season and I think everyone would agree his value/cost is a 1st+.

So while I get what your saying. Realistically those 3 players could net the rangers 3 1sts. It is what it is
