Connor has scored in the PO's in previous years. Id hope his improvement in engagement and 2 way play for the majority of the year transfers into the PO's.
Ehlers I agree he needs to carry the second line offensively and show out in a big way, if he's still paired with Names and Perfetti. Perfetti is still a question mark of course as he was scratched last year.
Ehlers playoff stats: 37 4 10 14 -9
v.s.
Connors playoff stats 45 15 17 32 -7

The stats show that Connor definitely is more 'present' during the playoffs but he has also been on PP1 whereas Ehlers has not until this season. I would say the Jets need both players to have career playoff years to go far this season.

neither have really been upto their regular season standards. but Ehlers has easily been further away.

segment it to 5v5 play then in order to account the PP usage differences. KC 21 pts in 45 gp 1.65 pts/60, Ehlers 9 pts in 37 gp for 1.06 pts/60. ofc connor plays with superior linemates & the Jets best center in scheifele, but that really has never been a limiting factor for ehlers in the regular season as he's usually been the top producer for the Jets at 5v5.

yes, 2 of the Jets best fwds need to produce at a v good rate for them to go far.

That is the blue print to beat this team but in the regular season most teams are not committed enough to do it whereas in the playoffs for a short series the 'wrong ' team like LA or Dal could sweep the Jets but let's enjoy the regular season success. It could be worse the Jets could be playing for a wild card spot, which is what I thought would be the case this year.
There are ways to mitigate it. I think Chevy is planning on bolstering the D. A heavy 2C could help down low. I'm optimistic.

It's also that Ehlers has been hurt in almost every series, he played with a neck / shoulder last year. And the year before. Hopefully mostly healthy this year. The jest have had bad injury luck in the last 2 playoff series.

Great breakdown of the stats. I have no clue how to do that but it certainly shows the Jets need more from both specifically Ehlers points wise but Connor does not do well with the physical nature of the playoffs

yes last year he played through the season battling a neck issue. doesn't seem to affect his regular season totals or play. maybe it cripples him immediately after game 82 :dunno:.

naturalstatrick allows you to toggle on playoffs and the different game states. as mentioned previously, i think connor has shown improvement in engagement & 2-way play this season. i am hoping that transfers into the POs b/c he'll be a key piece for the Jets to go far.

Edmonton made the 3rd round 2 years ago when they were swept by the Avs the year Colorado won the Cup. Then the final last year. So Conference Final twice in 3 years.
Ok they have been to the conference final a whole 1 more time than the Jets in the past 10 years . They are looking fantastic right now too with their 5 losses in a row and counting.

Ehlers for Ryan O'Really.
I doubt O'Reilly would waive his no-move clause but good idea because Ehler's is not staying here. Although if he could not help the leaf's when he was there a couple years ago and also younger then could he help the Jets?

Thanks for the info. I may try it or just not and hope you do it hahah
I do agree but being benched for the Can/USA final was a unfortunate and because he kind of disappeared in that tourney as it got more intense.

There are way more things to worry about in life than the Jets losing in the playoffs . It's entertainment ultimately and that's how i try to look at it. But they better win the Stanley Cup damnit....:naughty::laugh:

Like when will golf start again???

A ref reference (say that 5 times quick) as he always talks about them
NHL officiating is a joke, all teams suffer from it.

Ehlers tried hard to sell it.
It was off the shoulder and because Fly does the shot with a gun move often the refs ignored it.
I thought it was the case live and looked at the replay again and concluded that was the case.
Ehlers needs to dial back the theatrics when he gets hit, that’s why he has the reputation he does.
As expected he came out in the third just fine.
I love Eels and hope he stays here but I hate when he does that.
Speaking of reputation and how the refs respond to it, Scheifele used to be pretty whiny about every call on the ice. I've noticed he doesn't do that anymore, at least when it's not justified. There's definitely something to be said for not crying wolf , or going for an academy award in response to a hit every chance you get.

I dunno if maybe I was seeing things that aren't there. But last year I thought Connor stepped up his game a lot in the playoffs. Particularly with regards to 2 way play, and hounding the puck.

Ehlers needs a good post season badly. To take a bit of a tangent, I almost wonder if maybe Ehlers, who is amazing but can be prone to injury, is or should be pretty happy with his usage on the Jets. He's on a very good team that also keeps his minutes low, minimizing his injury risk. In some ways you could look at that as a best case scenario, especially now that he's on PP1.

I understand how you feel to a degree.
We’ve seen this before and we have been reverse swept twice for sure.
I am hoping that this team has learned from those losses and that we can win in the playoffs.
It’s natural to be leery about the playoffs but like @ps241 says just enjoy the moment now and see what happens.
We are a very different team than last year. Second half collapse vs hot all year leading to playoffs.

ROR has no official trade protection, but rumour has it that Trotz wond send him anywhere he doesn't want to go

He's the top center in Nashville now. They have gone back to what was the 1st line last year, on their playoff team, and dropped Stamkos and Marchessault down a line. Don't even notice Stamkos anymore. That contract looks brutal.
