One of Rykov/Hajek/Lindgren likely gets traded soon or what is the plan to get them all playing for the Rangers?

The plan will be to slowly develop and not have them all play for the Rangers now.
There is one spot for the young kids and I'm hoping for Rykov to be legit and take it. Hajek and Lindgren still need to develop.

Staal, Skjei, Smith and of the three kids. We won't trade anyone.

If I were to guess Smith and Claesson will be gone. They'll try to move Shattenkirk--that might be difficult though.

Fox and Rykov have the best shots at making the Rangers. Rangers are not going to have more than 2 rookie D though. Hajek has a legit shot as well. If he beats out Rykov --Rykov goes to Hartford. Hajek last year played better for the Rangers than he did the Wolfpack. That happens sometimes. It happened with McDonagh. Lindgren has something of a shot too--he paired with Fox at two successive WJC events. He's smallish and stay at home but he brings some real nastiness. Team hate to play against him. He hits to hurt. Quinn likes that quality. There's also Reunanen who had a terrific year in Liiga. He's probably a longshot but I don't think he can be discounted. Smith and Claesson are blocking all these guys with futures ahead of them who are knocking on the door. Smith is erratic and making way to much money to be regularly scratched or played as a 4th line wing. Claesson is not a bad player but has the look of a journeyman D like Kampfer. If you got guys with futures knocking on the door then players like him have to go.

Would not be shocked if the Rangers signed a vet UFA D though either.

They are clearly waiting to see where they spend money before a potential buyout

They are going to try and move Shattenkirk Smith, Namestnikov money but if they sign Panarin and no one wants those guys then they have to consider a buyout of likely Smith

I mean, untold numbers of people slot in "new guy du jour" on the 2nd pairing when making offseason line combos. Never forget the heady days of Thomas Pock and Alexei Bereglazov, 2nd pairing defensemen

people are really pluggin Fox in to that 2RD spot already? I got news for you guys Shattenkirk is probably a better player than Fox at this point. Fox will need some seasoning in Hartford still. Hang on to Shattenkirk. I'd be more interesting in trying to offload or buy out Smith than getting rid of Shatty.

I think Fox is ready and will play in the NHL from the get go. Could of course sit here and there, who doesn't under Quinn, but I would definitely be surprised if he didn't play from the get go.

Shatty should be traded.

We don't really have a 2/3 pairing most nights.

Where’s Buchnevich?

Kreider Zibanejad Buchnevich
Panarin Chytil Kravstov
Kakko Howden Strome
Lemieux Andersson Fast

Namestnikov traded for cap space.

I really can't see a scenario that we re-sign Kreider AND get panarin...it'll be one or the other, or neither. but I doubt both...so buch replaces one of them in that original lineup

I doubt it. It goes on over and over to say this is just him talking and their has been absolutely zero indications from any side of anything. He's just throwing it out there as his own opinion.

but he is always just talking and making stuff up and never mentions that...and he said its not a message from the rangers to hank...RB aka larry is saying it could be a message from hank to the rangers lol

Give them credit . The D stunk last year and they have improved the Right side especially so much on paper

2 yrs for Staal, Smith, Shattenkirk to either be traded or contract expires. By then Some kids should of taken steps forward

Gonna be a fun camp

Yea because then he probably is hearing stuff....the fact that he never does what he did makes me think it really is just him giving an opinion.

Lundqvist to the sharks makes a lot of sense.

But the problem is the cap space. Sure we can eat up to 50%, but even at that, I'm not sure it's workable.

No way will Jones be coming back. His contract is horrendous. So even if we eat half, now the Sharks are paying 10Mil to their goalies. They are already going to lose Pavelski because of their limited cap space.

They have Burns, Vlasic, EK, Coutoure and Kane all making 7MIL+.

I don't see it as being doable in any way.

and sharks really don't have many movable contracts to clear space...everyone is either a key guy that they won't move signed for several years or fairly cheap (also have a ton of guys to resign)...I can't see how they can make it work without moving jones and he's not coming here.

lets assume for a second that hank even wants to be traded and that Sj can fit him under the cap...both huge assumptions and both are probably not true, but we'll pretend...what does SJ have of interest to return? brooks mentions merkeley but I don't see us having any interest there with all the RHD we now have...I'd happily take their first. Also wouldn't say no to josh norris but doubt he'd be on the table...

I think it would be a combination of two things:

1. Hank decides he wants to be traded for a good chance to win the cup. And the Rangers choose to honor that request.

2. Clearing half his salary off the books for the next two years allows for a lot more flexibility + a significantly better opportunity to develop Shesty/Georgiev.

Whatever asset(s) we get in return, would likely be secondary to those previous considerations.

Honestly, I think it's time to move on from Hank. If SJ wants him, and Hank also wants to go, whatever we can get, we should take and run. He is one of the greatest Rangers of all time, but there's nothing more for him here. Despite what some think, we are not ready to compete this year.

Lets make sure we keep Claesson, he was our best defensive defenceman last year. Staal and/or Smith has to go

The Stars and Mats Zuccarello, as reported by Elliotte Friedman last week, are mutually interested in having the Norwegian forward return to Dallas. Both sides are also playing a bit of chicken in negotiations, but it’s believed that they have the same end goal after witnessing how well Zuccarello clicked in Dallas in such a short time.

This doesn’t mean Zuccarello won’t look at other options once the negotiation period opens, and it doesn’t mean the Stars won’t talk to other players. Yet there is an understanding that both sides are angling toward the same thing.

Losing a first-round pick to the New York Rangers in the 2020 NHL draft isn’t too much of a concern for the Stars when it comes to signing Zuccarello. His added value is believed to be much higher than a first-round pick, particularly one that could be late in that round.

Whether it’s Zuccarello or not, Nill said adding a top-six forward is high on his to-do list for this summer.

If Calgary walks away from Smith, Bob goes to FLA, that leaves Varlamov or a trade for Jones as options.
