Well with Trouba in the mix now it becomes a little trickier to absorb any bad contracts while still having money to sign Panarin -- assuming that's indeed something they want to do. At that point buyouts start becoming more serious options.
Good thing a Panarin signing doesn’t make any sense anyways.

I think if they are interested in Panarin, it’s only going to be up to a certain number and not a cent beyond that

Agreed. Perhaps term as well.

They clearly have a plan and they have multiple avenues to get to their final goal. While I think Panarin is certainly an option, I do believe there are paths that lead into this weekend that they'd prefer over going the large UFA contract route.

As much as I don’t love the idea of signing Panarin, I’m really impressed with everything Gorton’s done so far, so I’m more willing to have faith in whatever way he’s deciding to go right now

If the rangers want panarin then they need to trade krieder and a small add to move into the top 12. Then we have the cap space to get panarin. Although I dont agree that we should go for him. I know some of you want to buy out Staal, shatty, Smith but that would be majorly short sighted. Let steals contract run out.. trade shatty next year with 50% retained and Smith just bury till his contract is up. That will free up 14m in cap in 2 years then another 8.5 for lundquist the year after

Pretty sure whether we like it or not they are going to try

Kreider for a 1st plus prospect would only increase that pursuit
Agreed its a conversation you have to have. Much like the pro forma one that they'll have with Kreider's agent.

I know someone who works for the Stars organization, he was pretty certain they’re not interested in giving up a first by signing Zucc, though I hope he’s wrong.

Nill does that team NO FAVORS by letting Zuccs walk after the run they had.

They have guys there that have earned the right for another 2-3 kicks at the can.

That 1st does nothing for that team for the next 3-5 years.

Zuccs OTOH provides on and off ice presence that has already shown to be beneficial to the Org.

Hed be out of a job a lot sooner if he let's Zuccs walk

Agreed. Bishop carried that team on his shoulders after Christmas, the locker room was a mess till Zuccs showed up. Going by his and Dallas players twitter feeds, the locker room gel'ed after Zuccy arrived. The guy is glue. Walking good aura. His soul is thousands of Kalpa's of enlightened Bodhisattvas.
