I very much doubt the Rangers would have any interest in Ryan Merkley from the Sharks.
That's the problem with a trade there, it makes sense from a Henrik perspective, and I understand that his value is not that high for a number of reasons, but I don't want to trade him just to trade him. It's gotta make sense for the Rangers.

I dunno. I'm obviously low on Lundqvist at this point in his career, but if you can get a team to bite on him and his contract at this point, I'd personally let him go for a song. We've all been talking about trading Kreider to free up room to make a run at Panarin? What about trading Lundqvist to do so?

I am personally of the belief that goaltending is as close to a fungible asset as there is in the NHL. I'd be all for playing two high potential, cheap young goalies and allocating cap elsewhere in the lineup.

All of the Canadian media has the Rangers trading for Trouba or signing Karlsson. Trouba will be very expensive to acquire from Winnipeg and very expensive to satisfy long-term assuming he doesn't want to become a free agent next July. Winnipeg will want the assets the Rangers aren't willing to trade.

Yeah like jackpot can I get the cipher for the post? Basically I see the rangers not buying anyone out bc that would just be stupid and kill the teams cap after Staal shatty and Smith are gone and believe it or not folks we are not a playoff contender yet. In 2 years I think so and we will need that money which would probably be 6m in dead cap space to sign our own players or free agents that can put us over the top. I do see us looking at a trade with krieder and a small pie e to move into the top 12 to get another top forward. Plus I can see a deal where we trade shatty this or next year with retention to free up room for a player like fox WHEN he is ready.

Well with Trouba in the mix now it becomes a little trickier to absorb any bad contracts while still having money to sign Panarin -- assuming that's indeed something they want to do. At that point buyouts start becoming more serious options.
