Could be an implication that they're looking at trading some guys that would free up space but it's not a sure thing yet
What? Kessel is still a Penguin.I wonder if Minnesota missing out on Kessel is open with the 12th. Suddenly Gorton is the master of leverage and they are between a rock and a hard place. Zucker is weird situation.
He rejected a trade to the Wild with his NTC/NMC.What? Kessel is still a Penguin.
I like the guy, but we should try to move Claesson for a mid-round pick, if possible. Apparently there was interest at the TDL - see what he's worth.
Has the deadline for that passed?I don't think he was qualified by the Rangers so he'll be an UFA?
I think it's normally a few days before free agency.Has the deadline for that passed?
I don't think i'd read into that too much other than we aren't buying someone out today but he isn't ruling anything out between now and the end of the 2nd window
His words (when asked if he was going to consider a buyout)
"I don't have an answer for that now but if you ask me closer to the draft I can probably answer it a little bit better."
The 2nd window isn't until August.
Maybe it doesn't mean anything, maybe he wast just avoiding the question all together but I dunno, sounds like there is something else in the works.

Rumor round town said that he was untreadeable even at that retentionShattenkirk @50 to Toronto for Marleau + and then buy out Marleau?.
Also, June 23rd is first day to talk to upcoming UFAs. Maybe he wants a chance to talk with Panarin before deciding on any buy-outs.His words (when asked if he was going to consider a buyout)

Much better for sure and promising is the key word. With guys like Hajek, Rykov and Lindgren who can certainly surprise and contribute at early as this year . I know we traded two really good picks in 20 and 36 (I believe) but we have to go forward heavy with 2, Dallas pick, tb pick and our early third. So we have
Skjei
Trouba
DeAngelo
Staal
Fox
Shattenkirk
Pretty solid squad IMO.
Would be more interested in seeing what a package centered around Buch can get us to. Maybe 14th from AZ. That teams needs to start winning. Gives them a young player who is a .56 PPG player. They have some team control. Add Vesey. Add the 2nd round pick.Hearing kessel is not being traded. Probably good for the Kreider trading camp.
Matthew Barnaby also reporting he doesn’t think anyone is trading a top 10 pick as per scouts he talked to. So looks like Kreider or even Kreider plus probably doesn’t net us a 8/9/10.
I like the idea from an asset management POV – but the Rangers also tend to be very good about giving guys opportunities if they're not going to get a real shot at playing here (one of the many reasons players have a favorable opinion of the org), and if they send him down and don't play him in HFD and/or really intend him as a call up due to the absolute slew of prospects requiring PT between the two clubs, they may let him go, depending on he/his agent want.for how cheap his QO is, I can't see us not qualifying him...even if they decide that he isn't needed, they will qualify him and then try to move him for a pick or pass him thru waivers if it came to that
