A young center I’d love to get is Joel Eriksson Ek out of Minnesota. I think he’s poised for a breakout year, and Fenton hasn’t exactly been too smart with his recent moves. I think we could get a good deal there.

... yes, they MAY be. I understand that. On the other hand, I still don't see how Kreids stays and commands a big time contract.

Just because we don't have a big forward contract, we're supposed to give it to him/ he's supposed to ask for it?

There are parameters at play here and he should in and of himself not ask for more than say 6.5 million a year.
I can promise you that Krieder and his agent, after seeing the money that is being thrown around the league, would disagree with this assertion vehemently.

The term is a bigger factor than the AAV. If he isn't willing to sign for 4 years or less, I don't see him being signed.

I think Ryan Strome straight up makes sense :naughty:

Larry knows something when he's posting about the Sharks. It is true that SJ wants to change their goalie situation.

They are trying to trade Jones. SJ can't bring back Meier and Pavelski without moving a contract. Jones is it.

This guy is on fire this offseason.

Judging by Gorton's comments after the trade, it seems they have everything and more figured out with Trouba, additional moves and the rest of the D situation going into the season.

The confidence and assertiveness that Gorton and the rest of the front office has displayed lately is pretty damn incredible to me. They are putting in WORK and are getting **** DONE.

Win or lose you gotta be happy as a fan. Mainly because they have a PLAN and are executing it flawlessly right now. The years of Slats I felt there was very little foresight and planning and that became a big problem for the club at times.

Luckily they were able to get out of it with the amnesty buy-outs and AHL loopholes, but if not for that it could've been a disaster we may not have been able to climb out of for a lot longer.

But here we are, what 15 or so months after they sent out the letter and things are looking real good with a little luck in the draft lotto on our side.

Trading Jones, and then trading for Hank@50%, only saves them 1.5 mil. Maybe if we could involve a 3rd team who would take 50% of 50%, to cut the hit down to 2.125 mil, that would work. Tough to pull off though.

Wow the tired pointless zombie ideas on here that just will not die.

Buyouts when we aren’t against the cap.

Acquiring depth role players when we’re packed to the gills at F.

Trading Hank.

You flat-earthers.

Buyouts aren't just about cap space, they are also about roster spots. And we aren't as far from the cap as you might think. Depending on what other moves we make, we may need the extra cap space.

The only person who keeps pushing the depth role players is Viper. That's his thing. If we end up moving Vesey and Kreider, and buying out Smith, then one of those players may make sense for the 4th line.

Hank will only be traded if Hank wants to be traded. Everyone knows that. Doesn't mean we can't discuss the possibilities, should it come to that.

Just sit them. Demote the ones you can. Trade them at 50%. Spooner them.

Hopefully he can pull a Teravainen like trade out his hat. Maybe Nylander?

Well the Leafs definitely need cap space, are in the market for a RD, and want some grit in their top-six. If the Rangers could sneak Colin Miller out of Vegas, they could realistically offer all three to the Leafs in a deal.

With Kravstov and Kakko coming in, many trades will have to happen before a role player is needed. Lemieux/Nieves/Fast or Lemieux/Andersson/Fast is your 4th line, and a very good one. If Fast is one of those trades, Strome can slot there too. Or Lettieri. Or Vesey. Or Beleskey. Or Smith. Packed to the gills.
