Just sit them. Demote the ones you can. Trade them at 50%. Spooner them.

Sitting players doesn't solve a roster spot issue. Demoting players doesn't solve the roster spots issue unless you demote them all the way to Maine. Anyone interested in buying out a player would of course prefer trading them at 50%, but you have to find a taker. You think the Rangers didn't try trading Girardi at 50% before buying him out?

I'm not saying we will see a buy out, but it's not so black & white as it's portrayed.

Just heard Gorton's interview... sounds like he's got little interest in re-signing Kreider.. I guess there's tons of trade options. Cool.
He also said he has had dialogue with his agent. They have had multiple conversations.

One thing about the Rangers, at least in recent years, is they are very non-committal on providing any insight to the media of what is going on with anything they are doing. Latest example being the Trouba trade. No one saw that outcome happenig

Panarin Zibs Kakko
Kreider Chytil Kravtsov
Lemieux Howden Lias
Boo Strome Fast

Skjei Trouba
Hajek Fox
Staal ADA
Rykov/Lindgren/Smith/Keane

I'd be ok with this

Keeping Kreider instead of Buch.

Until we are ready to contend again a buyout makes zero sense. Just scratch whoever isn't playing. We have the cap.
Let’s say the play is to sign panarin and trade for nylander (2c), we won’t have the cap space to sit out 6.whatever

He said, "nothing serious." He also said Kreider will not start the season without an extension.

I don’t think contract spots are worth the dead cap hit that buyouts would necessitate. No one that we’d be planning to sign as a UFA is worth millions before they even suit up.

In terms of what was given up, no.

WE knew that they were in on him though. That was reported by almost everyone.

FWIW, Brooks seems to think Kreider is going to move on Friday.

I think Vesey goes. 50/50 on Kreider. Buch will stay unless he is a main piece for something like Nylander. Which is doubtful. Think we will swallow at least one bad contract for some more assets from a cap strapped team
I just remembered this, I was talking to ‘you’ in a dream of mine very recently. Your fleece half zip sweater had BBKers stitched in. I was like ‘are you kidding me, your BBKers’.

Whoa recall.

You were standing at a desktop computer setup looking at spreadsheets

(But you looked nothing like your avatar so I was laughing)

I really dont think we're taking on a bad contract unless we're sending Staal or Shattenkirk the other way.

It's a loser move imo

San Jose needs to clear space, so good move for them

Honestly, I wouldn't be against trying to get Labanc from them via offersheet

Kreider getting us back into a 1st round slot, potentially being higher than what we had before trading for Trouba would be ideal.

We're all hoping Kreider returns more than a late 1st, but that might be the teams that are interested in him. That group in the 9-14 range will likely be, but are they going to want to move that pick. Maybe Arizona, but they'll want him extended.

Wonder if they could get a Tatar type return for him (1st+2nd+3rd) from Carolina and get our picks back. Would open up the offer sheet option.

Brooks also had the Trouba trade completely wrong. I really dont take much value in what he says.

Kreider could move on Friday. We shall see.

There are plenty of teams in the top 7-15 that don't fancy themselves bottom feeders.

I really dont understand the move from the Flyers perspective. You gave up a 2nd round pick for a 32 year old Braun. He is signed only through this season. Are they going for it this year? I dont like their roster. Dont think it has enough to be taken seriously

Ha yeah that’s what talk said about the trouba value and fox pushing his way here and everything.

Honestly
Man, I don’t want to banter with you. You can not quote my posts if you’d like and I’ll do the same with you
My silence on posts could be viewed as tacit agreement, so no I cannot do that. This is the marketplace of ideas. I’m going to call rotten fish if I see it.

Braun is pretty good.

Their roster is better than ours and easily playoff caliber at the very least.
