Brooks also had the Trouba trade completely wrong. I really dont take much value in what he says.

Kreider could move on Friday. We shall see.
Have been reading Brooks a long time now. It certainly seems like he doesn’t have the sources he used to have, but still needs the clicks.

I really dont understand the move from the Flyers perspective. You gave up a 2nd round pick for a 32 year old Braun. He is signed only through this season. Are they going for it this year? I dont like their roster. Dont think it has enough to be taken seriously
Dunno, maybe they look at the Blues and say "why can't that be us next season?"

Braun is solid, he isn't as good as he was a few seasons ago, but he's a solid pickup.

I think this is very reactionary move for Philly. They were in on Trouba, I wouldn't be shocked if they were one of the teams that felt they offered more for Trouba than what we gave up.

Does anyone think Kreider won't be moved at the draft?
Not advocating for it, but I wonder if Kreider might feel pressure to leave money on the table and extend. He certainly should realize that he’s gone by draft day if not, and not necessarily to a team he likes or a city he wants to live in. How much money would he have to leave on the table for Gorton to want to sign him and forego the futures he’d bring back in a trade?

They are going for it, AV wouldn't have been hired if they weren't. Hextall was fired b/c the bosses at Comcast were tired of his patient approach. Fletcher is going to be one of the busier GM's this summer. Their 11OA is very much in play, Ghost will most likely be moved.

At the end of the day, the whole thing hinges on Carter Hart.

It's funny you say this after he called the Trouba interest days before the trade broke.

He says a lot of stupid shit and occasionally acts as a mouthpiece for the org., but all in all, we're actually pretty lucky to have him considering much of the other garbage teams fans are stuck with.

Thats fine to want to add, if its the right piece.

To me a 32 year old Braun, in which you gave up a 2nd and 3rd round pick for, is poor management assessment.

All they are doing is taking minutes away from a lot of their solid young defensemen. Hagg, Sanheim, Provorov.

Of course they still might still move Ghost which would change things

I still read him, and I’m often the one to post links to his articles on here. I know it can be worse. You don’t need sources to know we’d be in on Trouba. It seems like he has fewer sources than he used to.

I agree, I think it's not a great move for Philly. Ghost may be moved, I think Montreal would love to have him

Also we all know how AV feels about young defensemen, so this seems par for the course haha

New York Rangers Defensemen:

Shattenkirk
Staal
Skjei
Smith
Fox
Trouba
Hajek
Deangelo
Claesson
Rykov
Reunanen
Lindgren
Keane
Crawley
Day

That's 15 D men. Granted that a few of them won't crack the squad (Crawley, Day, Keane, Lindgren) that's still 11 D men for 7 roster spots. Something has to give. In fact, I think two.

Panarin Zibs Kakko
Kreider Chytil Kravtsov
Lemieux Howden Lias
Boo Strome Fast

Skjei Trouba
Hajek Fox
Staal ADA
Rykov/Lindgren/Smith/Keane

I'd be ok with this

Keeping Kreider instead of Buch.
How does Lias get put on the third line coming off last season when he showed little? IMO if he does not show much in camp its 50/50 he ends up in Hartford again. Assume Vesey is a goner as well?

Braun's pretty good, Hagg is pretty bad.
Trading picks can make sense if you're up against the 50 contract limit which I would guess Philly is after years of rebuilding and they like all their guys already.

Nice return for Braun.

I just seriously question Shattenkirk not having value at 3.25/2, especially after that trade.

We might not get something like that, but he should definitely be movable for something tangible IMO. At 50%, at least. The Rangers may not be willing to retain. Especially if they retain on Kreider, because we would then have only one open retention slot left until the end of next season.

the retaining is tricky. no way you retain on Kreider he has value.

gotta save one retain on Hank in case he waives at the deadline

so its Shatty at 50% ...........or he stays and its Smith with retention although I would just deal Smith for a F with an equal contract like Zach Smith
