There have been rumblings the Flames aren't pleased with the compete or some crap like that of their top end guys but I always thought that was more a shot at Monahan. We'll know in 48 hours.
It was, they’re looking to add to their big guys, but @Mikos87 said a few pages back those conversations about a trade were back during the WCF (unless I’m misremembering something I read like 30 minutes ago)

Just read this entire thread and almost threw up in my taxi from motion sickness.

Summary:

Calculated risk.

Potentially 4/5 piece deal.

Insiders would be “fine” with it, not ecstatic or upset.

Most likely teams are Edmonton, Chicago, Toronto.

Trying to move Kreider for highest pick possible.

Vesey is probably on his way to Buffalo.

I hope to wake up on the west coast to a hell of a Rangers news day.

Him + Trouba's deals would have the Rangers pretty capped out after RFAs. Dudes gonna want $9M+

Then that's when we trade vesey and names. Free up another 6m. There is always hopefully getting anything for shatty at 50@ retention

Tkachuk would be amazing replacement for Kreider. I'd give up a lot for Tkachuk... what will he want though, salary wise? Panarin and Tkachuk on LW for the next 7 years :naughty:

I feel like we need a 2C more than anything... Point makes the most sense, maybe we could win a trade with Yzerman gone. Karlsson, possibly? Vegas is in a really bad spot but I'm not paying as if he's a 40 goal scorer

pretty sure tkachuk would cap us out and then panarin would need to sign for like the league minimum but it sure would be fun to have 4 elite wingers and 1 center. before each game tkachuk, panarin, kratsov and kakko will have a steel cage match in the lockerroom first 2 to escape get to play with mika that night

Kakko would own a steel cage match against those guys.

So putting the pieces together and taking wild stab:

Edge says look at Jas post for clues and two different deals centered around under 25 age player on the team. One deal falls apart essentially if other deal is done.

- 70/30 likely on trade that's been talked about a lot on board. Would think it could be Kreider + (Chytil/Buch?) for 1st rounder in this draft plus a player on said team.

- 60/40 minor trade. Edge mentioned Vesey to Sabres which would fit the description.

- 50/50 major trade that nobody has talked about. In same Vesey blurb above, Edge says Rangers talked expanding the trade with Sabres. Maybe would need Chytil/Buch for that expanded trade which would halt the 70/30 trade above but then Kreider for pick could still be on the table.

Shared component being Buch/Chytil.

I dunno, then again I might be missing it completely and the shared component is Kreider with the 70/30 being Kreider straight for a pick and 50/50 is Kreider plus Buch/Chytil for somebody else which obviously nullify the former possible trade.

Eh, I telework tomorrow so I'm gonna have a beer to clear my mind...

can someone tell my why the flames would trade a 21 yo 70 point player instead of keeing him? are they that close to the cap or cheap?
MAybe tkachuk is eyeing signing deals that take him to UFA within 5 years and the best play is to get the most they can for him now before the clock ticks down ala trouba

There's just not a lot on the Flames other than their big guys that interests me. Backlund is a solid but unspectacular center who is 30. Bennett is young but 27 points? bleh. Jankowski is 24 and just 32 points last season. It's time to shit or get off the pot. Lindholm seems cool but again...why are they trading a 70+ point player who's pretty young?

The only guys that are interesting are Tkachuk, Monahan, Lindholm, and Gaudreau and they're all bigtime producers. Only reason I can see the Flames moving one is ultimately cap considerations because it's hard to have that many 70+ point players and pay them but Lindholm is signed to a cheap ass deal and Tkahuck is the only one not signed through the next few years and they could probably find a way to make him fit.

On defense? Not really interested in spending assets on any of those guys

Flames don't make sense to me at all for any kind of "big" trade partner

Yeah, there doesn’t seem to be much of a fit to do what they want to do, so I wouldn’t spend too much time thinking about it

i think id rather him at 9 then panarin 11.
I would rather neither right now. I think paying Trouba this offseason is enough. Just because we have the space, doesn’t mean we need to use it. We should save it for the next few seasons instead of overpaying for someone we don’t really need.

If its Mathew tkachuk, he is 21 years old and him with kakko would be awesome. Not sure how you could not want tkachuk on this team. Fits EVERYTHING that we want in our team and future of the franchise

I would agree about Calgary except if Tkachuk is asking for the moon and has made it clear he won't come down. Maybe then a Kreider+Buch for Tkachuk+Frolik who they have been trying to trade would be to their liking and they can make other additions with the cap space they save.

I don't think it's happening and I have to imagine there would be better offers out there for Tkachuk.

I'm guessing vesey is the smaller deal.

Krieder is the component in the 2 larger deals.

Krieder buch and something for tkachuk

If it doesn't go through krieder for a top 15 pick and prospect
Based on what BBK said about heating up, could that be a hint towards the flames and Tkachuk. Maybe thats the 50/50 deal Edge references. Probably Kreids/Buch and other pieces.

I like Tkachuk, but he’s going to cost us major assets (probably young ones) that I’m probably not willing to give up. I don’t want to give up Buch just yet. And I would rather trade Kreider, Vesey, and a lesser prospect like Gross/Barron for Edmonton’s 8OA Puljujarvi. Or something like that. I think this would be the better way to go at this point in our rebuild. And I’m not bananas about paying an RFA 9+ mil unless he’s a 90+ point guy.
