They’ll monitor to see how it goes. If it becomes a Nylander situation, they’ll be a team prepared to ask. But, no, there are no strategies revolving around Tkachuk.

Nor should CGY. Tkachuk is going to get paid. His dad always got his money, and I dont expect the son to be any different. He's going for a shorter term deal ala Mathews imo. Cash out twice by 26.

I literally don’t see a single part of their team that the rangers could “upgrade” without it being a mediocre return for the Rangers. Assuming we’re talking about a roster player trade

It's not from the Rangers perspective but helps CGY, unless it's a blockbuster. They need that player to cover a deficiency in one of their top guys. CGY doesn't get out of the 2nd round without filling this hole, and it's not coming through free agency.

But Calgary should be prepared that at 26 he’s going UFA and giving himself the choice. His cousin just worked it

I can see Gorton being REAALLY high on Marner. He may not want to pay the high price for Nylander but Marner is something else

Honestly, can I call BS here? The Rangers may or may not make a trade; preferably sooner, but may be later; no mention of the player or the team; could be a large 4-5 players trade or a smaller one; it is a calculated risk." That is literally words with no information to cover all bases so that no matter what happens, you can say you called it.

"The first person you meet tomorrow may or may not be a woman, probably in the morning but could be later in the day, can't tell you his or her name, nor if s/he will be walking alone or with friends, and it will be someone who takes risks, but only if they dont expose him/her to too much danger."

At least vet the rumor with the mods so they can confirm you have something and that you predicted what will actually happen after it happens. This way it isn't online, but we know you're not throwing the widest possible net hoping the Rangers pull a trade during a trade-heavy time of the year, while also piggybacking on BBKers info, so you can later claim you called it. Otherwise, I don't believe this is real.

I’m guessing Kreider for 8oa and Pool Party.

Possible other pieces added, maybe one of our seconds and a mid level prospect who maybe has been passed on the depth chart like Lindgren or something?

They’re already vetted so stop your whining.

The rumor wasn't vetted. It was vetted that someone has some sources, but that doesn't mean they can't exaggerate their own reach. Bbkers gives a timeline and clues that he can later point to as proof that he knew it all along, but I see no info from Edge except the widest possible net getting thrown at the time when everyone knows trades are likely.

This is why we can't have nice things. People provide some information, which they DO NOT have to do by any means and then they just get badgered at or criticized.

If I was ITK I wouldn't post anything because the majority of people on here can't handle it. Stop moaning and wait.

I appreciate everyone who has shared something recently, but the responses to it have largely been embarrassing.

When a vetted poster shares his info, you don’t question the source because of that posters long history and reputation.

If you honestly believe Edge has nothing better to do than blow smoke up our ass, then I don’t what to tell you man...

No, no you can’t.

This post is why we need the dislike button.

Maybe if he grows 4 inches & gains 45 lbs. Until then, no thanks. When time & space is at a premium in the playoffs, he pulls a giant disappearing act.

The Blues & Caps won the last two Cups with a ton of size & grit. That's the type of team I'd prefer we build.

Another one bites the dust. I went with the wrong rumors. I'll go back to jas with Colorado, buffalo, Arizona, and Edmonton.

I'm hoping draisaitl or rantanen.. blink once if yes or twice if no lol
A unvetted poster saying a speculation is not anything legit to go by. What vetted posters pass along should not be conflated. It was never a competing thing. You locked into the entirely wrong stuff and half of this thread ran with it for no rhyme or reason for 5 pages as if there was any substance to it - there never was.

What's worse is other people that piggy back on with their speculations and try to use legit vetted information to boost their own speculative hopeful ideas that carry no more merit than a Bernmeister post.

So what are the odds Kreider is on the team for the entire year next season?

I would agree about Calgary except if Tkachuk is asking for the moon and has made it clear he won't come down. Maybe then a Kreider+Buch for Tkachuk+Frolik who they have been trying to trade would be to their liking and they can make other additions with the cap space they save.

I don't think it's happening and I have to imagine there would be better offers out there for Tkachuk.
And if top players are forcing their way to the Rangers, while it's certainly flattering, it's not good for the league. (see The NBA). Either we have a complete free-for-all or we have a balancing system. I'm not really for or against either in particular.
But if players have found a way to hold the proverbial gun to their team's head the whole thing isn't going to last.

Editor's note. I see now that the Tkachuk fire was extinguished. But still, my point stands. If the NHL turns into the NBA, gag me with a spoon.

So ignore it. This is just for fun. (I hope) no one's taking this info to Vegas.

It’s really sad seeing all the legit ass prying going on. I know some are joking but some are bugging the f*** out. Even from vetted insiders, these things need to be taken with a grain of salt for numerous reasons that are outside of the messenger’s control. Which is why these nuggets of info are worded as carefully as they are. It’s very, very easy to share legitimate information and have a trade fall through, making one seem “unreliable” when in actuality everything that had been shared was accurate, despite the final result not occurring.

We’re lucky to have people who are open enough with us as posters to share legitimate information from an inside perspective. I’d hate to lose it because some people can’t be f***ing adults about it.

Me and a few others were getting into a conversation about some random possibilities in our heads about tkachuk. I ran with the wrong part of edge's posts and I said I'll go back to what @jas brought up in his last message to me which was paraphrasing which teams that were originally brought up by @Edge being Arizona, Dallas, Edmonton, buffalo, and so on.
