Speculation: Roster building thread XLIX ”U Can’t Always get what U Want”

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. Guys just sit tight and we'll see. None of this is to tease anyone. It's to let you know our guys are actively working right now and they're being bold.

I'd prefer not to have them do a search for "Rangers+[Name]+[Team] " and have my name out there.

Let's for argument's sake say that nothing happens, you have my word that I will tell you what was on the table, some of the thoughts behind it, and so on.

Of if a component changes, I'll point that out as well.

But if you guys look at something Jas reposted, you will find a lot of elements there. The post where he references something I typed 12 hours ago.

So much this. If someone entrusts you with info you can’t just scream it from the rooftops. But Edge does his best to still keep us more or less in the loop and excited. I would be a lot less excited if it weren’t for all the rumblings.

Interesting. Curious to see how it all plays out but encouraging to hear Gorton is being aggressive.

That's why I keep telling people to hang tight. If it happens, no one will care that it took longer. If it doesn't, nothing changes and we can debate whether everyone agrees with the mindset behind the asks.

You want to know names the Rangers were/are monitoring? Trouba (obviously), Panarin, Nylander, Marner. They're curious to see how the Tkachuk contract talks go. They're seeing if they can get a high pick and a prospect they like for Kreider. They're seeing how much Buffalo like Vesey, and if that team is interested in an expanded deal. They're checking in with Arizona now that Kessel is supposedly off the market. They're trying to see if there's any last ditch hope to trade Smith or Shatty, even with 50 percent retentions.

There, I just saved some of you about 30 mins of reading multiple articles that aren't even focused on what's actually going on. It's like 1997 all over again.

Thanks for all the nuggets of information. Whether it happens or not, it's entertaining knowing the different possibilities being floated behind the scenes and keeps the next couple days until the draft interesting.

i want to prepare my emotions...what type of deal are we talking about here? are we talking a deal that my initial reaction will be hatred but then down the road I'll claim I always liked the deal? or will I initially love it and then down the road say i was never fan?
 
I would love to have Willy Nylander but i dont see a trade going down for him that is a price im willing to pay. Unless Dubas severely overrates Buch and is THAT desperate for cap space.
