Speculation: Roster Building Thread XIV

you cant have an extension 2 years out from ufa. you can have a principle extension, but you cant have ANYTHING binding...

That tweet cannot be interpreted, hence I think it’s legit as ****. Who would make that up?

Seriously though, I think that the most likely interpretation is that if no deal is made, they will take Blackwell, if a deal is made, they could potentially reconsider (due to changes in depth charts and what not). But just as well still pick Blackwell.

Why are you putting so much stock into what Carp tweeted? I don't think anyone is actually sure what he was saying anyway.

Exactly agreed on principle. Also please give me an explanation on why Larkin would want to leave us? He would have more talent around him than ever before. He would be competing for a cup, doesnt have to be the man here like in detriot while not even being our #1 center since that would be Zibs. Every reason to stay, none to leave.

you would seriously rely on an unbinding handshake deal to a player to sign a contract over 300 days from now at the earliest?

what happens if he comes here and pops 35/35 playing with panarin and demands more money to sign?

I always prefer deals with Columbus instead. We also seem to hose them in trades even when we steal their UFA's

This us true. Him being a malcontent is a not an issue considering the bumbling of that team. The biggest issue is his health and always has been.
