It wasn't even a rumor from the start. It was simply a trade proposal suggestion from RangerBoy that somehow got signal amplified and spread across through twitter as a rumor. The only links to OTT were the previously posted tweets of reported interest in Strome
i know, i was referencing that it was called a "rumor" in the twitter post that people are talking about that leads to eichel in nyr and that in itself was a reason to doubt its credibility

This is what well all aspire to be reality in every thread. @Edge

People give Eichel shit for wanting out but seriously have you seen how Buffalo has been run while he's there and continues to be run?

I don't think him being fed up is a black mark agains thim. The team sucks and keeps making dumb and bad decisions over and over instead of building a team he can succeed on and this injury thing seems to be the last straw
He quit on his team. But its different than Nash, St. Louis, Lindros, Fox, Messier....

My initial reaction to the Seattle list is that there has to be a lot more to the story. I could have picked a better team than they did at not much more cost.
Exactly. Everyone is complaining that the intrigue is over but the list is so head scratching that there has to be A LOT of shit bubbling around under the surface.

I've been thinking the same thing. That center depth is questionable at best. Mason Appleton at 2C.... ok I'll buy, kinda. There's a lot more going on here than meets the eye I think. Perhaps the NHL knows and is saving the good stuff for the broadcast haha? Maybe they learned from Vegas on how to truly market this thing. Hell, yesterday everyone though for sure it was Kerfoot from Toronto.

Quite the dearth of legitimate and top 6 centers on that squad.

Not sure if this is in defense of Eichel or not but to me there is soooo much to steer anyone away from him, but how he's handled himself through all of this is rubbish. I'm not saying Buffalo hasn't been poorly run, but Eichel certainly hasn't been the franchise player he is being paid to. I don't remember all these years Florida sucked Barkov giving up, being a distraction, or anything less than a standout example. Stay away from fire and you won't get burned is how I feel about Jack.

Well, color me excited!

We were looking for a bottom pair LD, we might acquire Giordano instead?!

Leadership, experience, solidness, one year left on the contract. Oh baby, make it happen.

it's funny how people speculate mcjesus should want out bc the oilers keep struggling to get over the hump and it would be justified but eichel who has been done worse in buffalo is a baby and whatever else. guy has seen how bad it can be in this league and i have to imagine he is sick of it and wants to be going the right direction. if the trade is fair i am fine with it

Well it’s McDavid. When you’re that good, people will put up with a lot.

I don’t blame Eichel for wanting out. I don’t even think he himself has a character problem. I don’t know for sure because I’ve never played with the dude or pretend to have sources, but I do know that ROR , who is basically Mr. Character, admitted that he quit playing hard in Buffalo on his way out and then went on and won the Smythe a year later.

I’m not sure the fit is here. I don’t like the idea of trying to keep him and Zibanejad. I don’t like the injury history (even before the neck stuff, which while is not a career death knell for sure, does carry much more risk than pretty much anything that isn’t head related.)

this just seems like unnecessary star chasing. Maybe he goes on to be a top 5 player where ever he gets traded, that isn’t impossible, but I don’t love those odds enough to move some pretty valuable pieces who can be groomed here to carry out other roles, or can be flipped to fill holes we actually have.

I was interested a year ago. I’m really not anymore.

That specific package, yes.

Although there has been considerable buzz out there that Ottawa is interested in Strome. @Edge has hinted at it, Andy Strickland posted about it, and Garrioch tweeted about it this morning.

It seems like there's some smoke here.

If buffalo wanted 3-4 1st rounders let them pick there own. If the rangers did trade Strome and a pick for Otts 10th and we could keep our 15th....

Giving Buffalo the 10th 15th Chytll and Jones ...I would not want to put Buch in this trade unless it's a bigger deal.
But those two picks chytll Jones and another prospect for 10 million and a questionable neck buffalo could dump that money and rebuild with chytll, Jones, another prospect, and they would have 2 first rounders (3 including there own).

The franchise has become the vanity project of a billionaire’s 2nd wife, what could possibly go wrong? I guess an antique shop didn’t cut it

Francis (I think) drafted all those guys. He has insight that we certainly don’t. Geekie is not who I would have picked but this is really dramatic.

He is really focusing on production/cap hit. Probably pretty wise, the environment we have now have never been seen before.

If we are able to acquire Giordano for spare parts, I'd be all over that.

I have no idea what that move might look like, but I think if Seattle retains half his salary I'd be willing to move something like Hajek, and next years 2nd, possibly another piece.

He's dependable, strong in his own end and brings needed leadership. A Giordano - Trouba middle pairing and then letting Miller steady a bottom pair with Nils would make for a very strong defensive group for us.

this board wants to wait a year for barkov to maybe be a ufa, but you want to trade top value for larkin who is a ufa in 2 years. it is so funny...

The obsession with Larkin being traded here is astronomically comical. Even more so than how much I post about getting Eichel.

Some of you guys who are serious about Larkin do realize who's commanding ship over there in Detroit right?

Yzerman is anything but a goofball

Okay, this is the last time im saying this because its getting to be ridiculous with other people who havent read edges posts.

He has stated any trade for Larkin would be with an extension in place.

Also @AirGut Detriot has a different plan. They want to rebuild fully, they want top prospects because Yzerman has no timetable to make the playoffs. Larkin would NOT fit their timeframe of their build and Larkin most likely has no interest in stayin in detriot for a full blown rebuild.

i get it. IF IF IF eichel is a legit thing than I can understand the goodrow for 3c speculation. i just think there is so much in the air we probably have no chance to guess at this point.

The more I look through everything the more I’m convinced that Eichel will be a Ranger this week.

I’m not saying it’s impossible he goes to Minnesota, but I’m just not buying it.

Going by my gut feeling, Eichel will be a Sabre when the season start. I can’t believe that anyone would give up significant assets for him everything considered.

Could I be wrong? Definitely. Just my take on it.
