One deal out there is Strome plus our 1st rd pick for Ottawas 1st rde #10............would 1 of Johnson. Mctavish Sllinger be available?

I don’t love Strome but I also don’t like using him to simply move up in the draft. I think he should be at least worth a net addition to my system. Not that this is realistic, but if I was getting the second overall pick back that’s a different story, but to move up 5 slots to 10, in a 9 player draft? I think I’d rather move him for already drafted prospects.

I'd like to think so, but whats Strome with one year left worth on his own?

Jumping from 15-10 is probably worth a pick a pick in the 20-25 range (Help me out here @Amazing Kreiderman .) Is Strome really worth a whole lot more than that?

Remember, the price of jumping from 15 to 10 is not the same as jumping from 20 to 15.

Last year that might have been worth it to nab Lundell. This year I’m not so sure.

If that’s true, give him 5.5M. That’s cheaper than Strome’s extension will be by at least 1M and he’s a much better all around player. I am positive he’d mesh with Panarin, and if Chytil ever figures out how to be a 2C, Danault slotting down to 3C (Chytil would be pretty cheap for the first 2-3 years of Danault’s deal) would work just fine.

Prior to this last year, where he got jumped on the depth chart by their kids and was given the shutdown role, he’d put up 40, a 40 pace, 53 and 47. He’s not devoid of offensive talent but he’s in the Selke conversation with the rest of his game, praised for leadership and work ethic. He’d put up 60 points with Panarin and make us significantly harder to play against. Adding Danault and Goodrow would be a big time culture shift for our forward group, and without spending assets on them we can take back promising prospects or 1st round picks for Buch/Strome.

If Kakko scores 45-50, what would his next deal look like? Would he get the Nico Hischier deal of 7x7? Or a bridge?

I hope and pray we get 50 point seasons out of Kakko and Laf this year. The hope will be reinstated.

Am I weird for being not as worried about our state of contracts, since medium term cap is gonna skyrocket once TV Deal money and post-COVID flattening ends? If anything, the next 2-3 years might be a PERFECT time to lock up some long term deals (i.e. Kakko, LAF, Fox, Zibby, etc) or a trades for long term signed players (i.e. Eichel) :naughty:

There is some truth here. We worry about it getting tight after the next 2-3 years but that’s exactly the time the cap should start to rise dramatically.

Coleman isn’t gonna take 4m after watching Goodrow get 6x3.6. Coleman probably hasn’t woken up yet after blacking out upon seeing the Goodrow quotes

What would a lineup with Coleman look like if your adding Larkin as well? Also how would the cap work with those moves? Coleman is a LW and signing him is going to cost at least what Goodrow is going to get.

Do you try Kreider on the right? I'm also assuming Buch and Strome are dealt.

If you trying Kreider on the right You'd have:

Laff - Zib - Kakko
Panarin - Larkin - Goodrow/Kreider
Coleman - Chytil - Kreider/Goodrow
Barron - Rooney - ????

Danault to me a no brainer. Insulates Chytil I’m selling Strome and Buchy for futures always need to replenish and be ready to add and use those pieces to finish the puzzle

Obviously I'm not saying be careless, but IF these are the troops we want to surround our budding stars with, might as well make it count the next couple of years. I REALLY hope we bypass the bridges and save some Ms for 2nd wave and complimentary players after the cap going up. Front loaded contracts welcome.

From my point of view, we shouldn't be after Danault. We should be after a mid-20s 1C, doesn't need to be an elite one (like Larkin) and spending next season with that player, Chytil, and either Strome or Zibanejad as our top 3 centers. Then we can address the 2C or 3C slot next off-season.

coleman at 4.5 is better value than goodrow at 3.6.
Yeah but we signed the latter already. Signing both for a combined 8 million plus is probably not the best idea right now. Plus both are true wingers albeit Goodrow can do center like things like be decent at faceoffs.

That can't be our new barometer, but yeah, I like Coleman at 5 better than Goodrow at 3.6.
I Know I am in the minority here but I take Goodrow. I feel like we need more of the things he can bring. Yes I know Coleman is fast and we can use a bit more speed but we should have enough skill up and down this lineup.
