When he shows up this is all true. The scoring inconsistently is known and accepted. He is invisible for long stretches and that is the issue. No one minces words when they take issue with Kreider so I don't know why people continually misconstrue the narrative.

Hopefully Kreider makes an impact in games even when he hits a cold spell. It will do wonders for the overall team game.
I think he makes an impact more often than not, even when the scoring dries up. He definitely does go stretches where he’s largely invisible though. But those stretches are usually shorter and farther between than his goal scoring droughts.

I know people bring this up regularly but what the f*** is up with this website refreshing while I’m mid post? It happens constantly. Is this a “feature” that goes away if I become a sponsor?
I'm a sponsor but I also use Brave browser. The ads were insufferable. Brave has a mild ad-block built in.

Call me crazy, and I agree that value wise its an overpayment, but I am still not sure if that would be the right move for the current Rangers. Is Dunn the LD the team needs, or do they need a veteran D with some grit? Is Thomas the center they need, or is he bad at faceoffs and sort of redundant to Chytil?

If Buch goes I'd much prefer WE are the team with the multi-player package for one piece from somwhere else that fits the team and the plan. Not just trade Buch in a value move that brings us pieces that dont truly fit.
Right move or not, if that deal is offered you take it and laugh your way to the bank. Flip Dunn for assets. Who cares. You don't ever turn down an overpayment that big for a player you are looking to move anyway.

Faceoffs or whatever, Thomas for Buch would be great. Even if he doesn't play C long term, his particular skill set would fill an area of need for us. We're collectively slow at balls as it is and Thomas can scoot. He would fit in tremendously with how Gallant would have this team play. Not redundant to Chytil at all (who may not be long for this team as it is.)

I'd do Buch for Thomas and Sanford. A vet LHD can be acquired by other means and I agree that Dunn isn't the type of LD we should be shooting for.

That's more of a video game approach, and I definitely don't agree. Just my opinion but in the real world you don't make trades based only on players market values, you make them based on fit with the organization. I think it's probably extremely rare to trade from players you intend to "flip". Any trade should address organizational needs.

That's assuming they wouldn't have an extension in place upon acquiring him. That being said...

Thats a big return even with an extension in place.

Surprised they're extending Hoffman. I remember hearing that they were looking to move him at some point around the deadline last year and the word was they were not happy with his play. Guess that was wrong.

Wouldn't shut off a buch trade there though as Hoffman plays the LW. They'd look for Buch to replace Tarasenko.

Video game approach? No. Not for a player you are looking to move which, the rangers kind of are. The same certainly wouldn't apply to Adam Fox or Sheshty.

Nope. They should have moved him. He is useless 5 on 5.

I like how I got a good amount of pushback when I first suggested we get Gourde a month ago, and no we have all of these crazy proposals trading a ton of assets to Tampa for him

I mean, isn't it also possible that Tampa could have something worked out on the side with SEA or someone else to keep Gourde since they realize how valuable he is to their team? Given how they use him, he's easily over-performing relative to his cap hit. Plus, there's that weird smoke out there from Frank Seravalli suggesting that Tampa might have some big move planned.

As for Eichel, yeah, we've beaten this one to death. I'm not interested in gutting what we've built to bring him in with so much uncertainty about his health. I know Friedman reported that he's skating, but something just seems off with how shady BUF has been with his medical records. Plus, the idea that Vince threw out there of trying to keep Eichel *AND* Zibanejad is madness when you factor in the flat cap.
I think the difference is that people assume he'd be coming at half his cap hit. Not sure that was ever an option if he were to come directly from the TBL.

And for the record, I'm very much on the fence about the idea, even at 50% retained, depending on how the rest of the roster shakes out... :)

Wow those 2 plus Giordano . They willl have a good top 6

this also means they may flip more D in trades
They could be better than a 1/4 of the current NHL teams and in that division who knows. Crazy to think but Seattle and Francis May be eyeing a playoff spot already. Maybe changes the way they are gonna do business?

Why wouldnt he be?
I dont think going the top tier UFA route to fill the needs on the LH side is what we're looking at here.

It's nothing against him per se, just more about the term/money he'll be getting. Those assets should be focused elsewhere, like another Center. Not a defensive minded LHD who you want to ideally play 3rd pairing 5 on 5 and kill penalties.

I still think McNabb is the guy who fills that role. Maybe Giordano depending on what Seattle wants for him. Carson Soucy too.

Kreider's worst isn't far off from Coleman's best. In fact, he still had a higher WAR last year.

I'm definitely pro-Coleman but you guys are absolutely buggin'.

Why not both?

Not bad for Seattle. Dallas and Edmonton had crap to pick from so getting two established guys was probably for the best
