With basically no PP time.

I'm as disappointed as the next guy that Kakko didn't explode for 50 points like so many people were saying he would as a rookie and sophomore, but he went from 0.35 points per game WITH power play opportunities as a rookie (2 goals, 11 assists on the power play), to 0.35 points per game basically WITHOUT power play opportunities as a sophomore (2 goals, 1 assist on the power play) (his PP time was essentially cut in half, and almost all came in PP clean up time, which getting 20 seconds at the end of a PP isn't really a fair chance to establish the zone, cycle and score).

Give him a prominent power play role and you'll see that 0.35 ppg this year creep up way closer to 0.5 ppg organically. He'll eventually glide into being a 50 point player even if he's a massive disappointment from what we thought we were getting.

And I still think he'll eventually break out, which means, pencil in 70 or so plus Selke defense, if not better.

last year was a mess. Covid, kids are young, coach is questionable and no reinforcements to counter what we saw vs Carolina in the playin.

This year will tell a lot. Honestly, the past regime set up a nice team to have veterans and future players in the pipeline yet, imo, got the best and worst of both worlds by winning the draft lotteries. Suddenly, kids who were supposed to be developing started in the NHL. The Kakko/Laf duo was unexpected. The whole rebuild both accelerated and stalled as we waited for development and cap space to open up.

Ryan Reaves fetched a 1st  so did Paul Gaustaud back in the day

Ryan Reaves + pick #51 in that draft was traded for Oskar Sundqvist and pick #31. So Pittsburgh just moved down 20 spots in the draft and lose a C level prospect who was a 4th liner. Not exactly Reaves being traded for a 1st straight up, plus it was literally the last pick in the 1st round.

Gaustad was traded for a 1st rounder at the deadline in 2012. So not only was it almost 10 years ago but it was also a deadline trade with them beefing up for a playoff run. Comparison is not really applicable.

PLUS: Reaves >> Deslauriers on the ice and in reputation. Gaustad >>>>>>> Deslauriers as well. Guastad was a 3C at that time.

How about this for Strome:

Ryan Strome for Ridley Greig + 3rd

Greig is a tenacious forward, taken #28 last year

as a Rangers fan done. I wanted Greig. was hoping the Rangers would trade to snatch him. reminds me of the center version of Brad Marchand

Again, Rangers have cap space, all kinds of assets, want to win and are looking to get SOME "grit, physical players" They're going to be "linked" to pretty much everyone and very little of it will make any sense from their POV

Nashville also wanted to, and did re-sign Gaustad

Think he said they were, as in before Goodrow. But Hyman wouldn't go for $3.6M, so they went Goodrow.
Am I missing something? Did the Rangers expect Hyman to sign a similar contract to Goodrow? If so, their player evaluations are f***ed up. But I assume it meant their budget for this type of player is what they paid for Goodrow.

Rangers gonna have a 28 man roster and LTIR 4 players until April and activate them. Drury going all Tampa Bay Lightning Thanos (Eichel, Price, Hyman and another player)

Did anyone catch the NRD spot on the instigators from 20 minutes ago?
No because who cares. They’re not a legitimate source. It was literally some 17 year old kid that joined in on the insiderrrrrrr buzz a few years back and has somehow kept the gimmick going. Anything they post is just random speculation or just transcribed from someone else

I could very feasibly see any contending team acquiring Eichel LTIRing him for the whole regular season to stay cap compliant. He's likely to miss most of it anyways.
