I don’t want Eichel but this is absurd. Eichel is easily a tier above Barzal and Aho is on a much much better team
Yes, I wouldn’t want him unless doc are sure he’ll be 100%. On talent, speed, and skill Alone, Eichel is one of the best in the league. And he’s still just 24-25.
Some of the arguments for not wanting him here in this thread is just silly. The neck is a for sure concern. And the biggest question mark. But we wouldn’t be able to acquire him without giving up LaF /Kakko otherwise

Yes, but attributing that quote to Friedman saying that about NHL general managers is disingenuous. He hedged his bets but he didn't say that he believed that they were all lying and bluffing.
Agree to disagree. I think he brought up the Thomas example to communicate how this time is year is full of misinformation from teams, so while he did pass along what he was "hearing" regarding specific teams being out on JE, he himself wasn't sure if he believed it.

Nothing they get will increase their sales revenues for next year, least of all an unhappy player who publicly doesn't want to be there. I'm not sure why this trade is going to be the straw that breaks the camels back for a team that has only known disorder and disfunction for the large majority of its existence and has a current playoff drought of over 10 years at this point.

Yeah it dont matter what "prospects" they get back, its not going to do them any good money wise coming in to lose Eichel.

I don't think so either, but just as some (well, a ton of) Sabres fans are not being realistic with their desires, we're not going to get him for Chytil and B prospects either.

Thats ok, I can live without him then.

Buff might as well shelf him, let him get fixed, maybe he's back and can prove the risk before the tdl next season or get full value (whatever that is based on his rebound) back next summer.

Eichel is a falling knife right now. No one with half a brain is risking the long term cap hit or assets, the others who are in it are sharks looking to eat Adams alive with rightfully low-ball offers. There might come one dummy willing to sell their top prospect and picks for a walking mystery box, but God help the fans of that team if that GM does. Hopefully it's not us.
Keep him for this season, stink for the draft since you aren't getting warm bodies to replace him, knock a year of risk off for the taker. If his clause kicks in, he will waive to just about any team because he is highly motivated to get out.

Adams is mismanaging both sides of this as bad as possible. His asset is depreciating as the season approaches and he can play less and less. Available cap will disappear in a blink when free agency hits.

I would be happy with a Kent Johnson draft pick for Buch - I know KJ as a prospect has the Kyle Turris/Strome vibe, where the talent is legit but there might not be enough besides the talent to make a big difference in the NHL. I just worry Buch is in a similar situation we had with McDonagh where Rangers fans know the player is great, and are correct, and NHL GMs are wrong, but one will get lucky.

I assume Drury is "looking into everything" would be VERY surprised if the Rangers ended up with Hyman.

Rangers have alot of cap space, have a TON of assets, and "want to win".. They're going to be linked to every player in the NHL at this point

I can’t believe that. Where would he even play? 3rd or 4th line? Or is he the Panarin’s grinder replacement? Anything over 4M for Hyman and I’ll vomit

(Shrug)

I like Zach Hyman the player.

He's an even strength scoring machine. He pretty much gets all of his production at 5 on 5 which we need more of.
