The Rangers have an offensively gifted young center in Chytil. What they actually need is a good defensive 3C and they may already have that if they plan to play Goodrow there.

Assuming they give him that chance when they want to take the next step... Now if they do then there's probably a better than 50% chance they keep buchnevich then because then they have an extremely cheap 2C

I think once we find out what we're possibly giving up in an Eichel deal, than we can understand what Drury probably wants to do with the bottom 6. Either Chytil or Strome could be dealt within an Eichel package but I think regardless both of them are gone in some way before opening night.

Overpaying for Goodrow and possibly looking to trade for Deslauriers...

Perhaps, sure. Or they could find another vet winger/center. So for example:

Laf-Zib-Kaako
Panarin-Chytil-Kravtsov
Kreider-_____-Goodrow

or

Laf-Zib-Kaako
Panarin-Chytil-Kravtsov
Kreider-Goodrow-______(Barron?)

If Dallas is successful in acquiring Seth Jones and signing him long term, I would ASSUME that takes them out of the Oleksiak running. How much is he projected to get and for how long?
Think that would be a bad assumption. Think it takes them out of the Klingberg running.

Yeah they could find another winger, but I think they really like Buchnevich, and having a very cheap 2C would probably allow them to sign him

Eh I'd scrub through their history for the last few months. There is a ton of repackaged info just to drive clicks, but they've called a bunch of things.

I'm the first person to call bullshit on things like this when they are, not so much in this case.
I know, I’ve seen it. There’s still nothing there, and none of these “insiders” are legitimate sources. The Ryan Ellis to Philly one has been loosely speculated about for a while ever since the Seth Jones to PHI stuff came out. It’s all just repackaged stuff.

Sorry, I know I’m being an ass, but the kid was already outed as a whiny teenager a few years back. I’m just not buying any of it.

Back to reality though, the proposed idea from Carp with being in on Coleman seems crazy to me. We can’t commit to two huge UFA deals this summer and eat close to $9M of our pending cap space. Plus, trading Buch to replace him with Coleman is a terrible idea, IMO, but I’m also one of the people banging the keep Buch drum.

I would do that if we bumped it up to a second round pick.

I thought about it but the Sens 2nd rounders are pretty high (SJ and OTT 2nd's is who they have). Either way, it would seem to be a trade that makes sense for both clubs. The Rangers could use the cap space and young player who is probably a couple of years away. He also plays a style the team will be needing more of as it moves into the future. Based on their pick of Schneider and Cuylle I would anticipate that his playing style was one they were intrigued with at least last year. The Sens can offer Strome a nice medium term deal to stick around, say 3-4 years.

I will say that I don’t think Drury’s approach is terribly different than what we were going to see under Gorton and company.

Depending on whether people are freaking out or rejoicing, that could cut two different ways.

How much would Kadri cost? Wonder if Colorado would move him

He's done a lot of questionable things but he's the exact player we need. Also is clutch in the playoffs

Sens were very interested in several months ago, so I am wondering if they might be at the point where they just say, “let’s get it done and stop p***yfooting around.”

Obviously their plan B didn’t work wonders for them.

I doubt they'd wanna lose him after losing Landy. Both are tough, identity guys and losing both would really hurt the team IMO.

if Sens get Strome with extension shouldn't we get a little more?

Strome’s value is really hard to peg. On the one hand, he’s a damn productive center who is in his prime. On the other hand, not many view him as a core guy. He’s one of the hardest players to get a market read.

Maybe but he wouldn't be coming with an extension, just a spot where Strome could fit long term and get a nice contract where also the team has space and could use him. Would seem like a good fit all around.

In saying all of that, it won't happen because.....stuff

I know people don’t watch to move Buchnevich but the way things are breaking it’s working out well for the Rangers

Lot of teams are looking for top 6 forwards and Buch’s value has never been higher

They’ll get a good return assuming he goes

Gorton dropped the ball to give him any credit in that regard. Fast and mid-season Bennett.

Goodrow isn't the issue. I like Goodrow.

Moving strome is not ONLY to add futures, but its more to free up an additional 4.5 in cap space as a continuation of adding another dimension to the team that we saw with Goodrow.

The Rangers are in a very unique position here.

Glut of top 6 players, two of whom are very tradable with quite a bit of cap space to change the look of the team.

This week, next week is going to be entertaining and exciting but scarey as well.

I have a feeling Thursday and Friday are going to be one of the craziest rides we've seen in a long time...and not just the Rangers.
