Well, everything is on the doctors with that neck... They have to be right. He's a hell of a talent otherwise.
I mean Buffalo isn’t really wrong with wanting him to rehab and not have the surgery. That’s usually first line management. Unless thats been tried and failed, Eichel definitely sounds like he’s the one asking for more aggressive treatment. It would be interesting if he would feel the same way on another team, but you don’t gut a good portion of your roster/future for interesting.

It has to be an immediate no deal if Buffalo is trying to hide his medical reports

I'm listening to 31T podcast now.

Friedman really, really hedging his comments on JE. He says "the next few days might be goofy on Eichel". Says there is a ton of bluffing this time of year, everyone is lying. Says things can always change with the phone call. "Sounds like" LA/Ducks/Calgary are out on JE...but who knows. It could all be posturing leading up to the draft.

Ignore/chide as you will but I heard and shared on here a few months back that MN would make a serious play for Eichel. Not surprising if it does truly come down to the Wild and Rangers. Hopefully the Rangers are just in there to get Guerin to up his offer.

With his neck issues and attitude concerns? I would say so.

Not doubting the neck issue but I'd have "attitude concerns" too if the team I was drafted by made bonehead move after bonehead move since I got there and made almost no effort to insulate me with any sort of talent to win besides giving Jeff Skinner a bloated contract and then wouldn't let me get surgery on an issue I felt I needed help on.

I think this is an example of a star player using his leverage to get into a better environment and get a fresh start. It happens in literally every other major sport besides the NHL. When it happens here, it's always perceived as the player being a "locker room cancer" or a problem child.

I don’t want Eichel but this is absurd. Eichel is easily a tier above Barzal and Aho is on a much much better team

Easily a tier above? I don't think you understood what I wrote then. It's not purely about stats. And I think the only way you can say "Eichel is easily a tier above" is if you ONLY consider point production. And even then, I would say you are wrong. I would take Aho over Eichel any day of the week. Barzal, I would have to think about harder, but with how well Barzal has been with the Islanders and how he's done everything he can to get the Islanders wins, I wouldn't automatically say Eichel is "a tier above". Frankly, your "tier" system is silly. And it sounds like a fantasy hockey thing, not an NHL thing. Eichel is no McDavid or even MacKinnon. Those guys ARE a tier above. Eichel, not so much.

And their teams are better now yea, I actually SAID that in what I wrote. But that doesn't mean they couldn't have dragged the Sabres into an 8th seed in the playoffs over a 6 year span. But it's not like the Sabres haven't had some talent around him, which hasn't worked out for various reasons. The Hall experiment didn't last very long. But they weren't like, Coyotes level talent-less.

I would imagine including Rossi would be the tipping point. Rangers can't offer a young stud C, but the Wild can.

If Eichel goes elsewhere, Zibanejad will be signed this off season is my guess. The Rangers sort of have no choice they need one of them outside of something else being available that we have no idea of

Do you guys think the neck injury is overblown and he’s sort of leveraging that to get out of Buffalo? Does anybody know about this type of neck injury? Does he really need surgery? How “experimental” is this surgery he wants? Is there other surgeries they can do instead?

I think leveraging an injury to get out of buffalo is counter productive. Makes teams less interested given his salary.

I don't think he's faking anything, more like BUF being BUF and/or wanting his surgery be someone else's problem. But then they'll have to sell at a discount - what everyone talks about.
I've read many times this type of surgery has been successfully performed on NFL players.

If his health was such a risk why teams would even be interested in him? Doubt GMs are totally nuts.

I do wonder if this could be true. It would be the perfect cover for Adams to save some face. Could explain why the medical records have not been shared. Probably a fun ridiculous conspiracy theory, because the truth should ultimately come out, but I'm curious to see what actually happens w his new team.

It hurts Buffalo without hurting his future team. Also by demanding a higher risk treatment than the standard medical care, he could be trying to force Buffalo to say f*** it let someone else deal with this.

it’s honestly impossible to say without seeing his medical record

I have a hunch that we will wind up bidding against ourselves for Eichel. I wouldn’t pay more than Strome/Jones/15OA/Georgiev. There’s your “4 pieces”, take it or leave it.

I guess we’ll find out soon enough if Sather is the wizard of oz or the lollipop guild.

Barzal gets benched PLENTY for his effort away from the puck so it’s not just Eichel. And I’m completely against this Eichel move.

the one thing I do not know is if Mika has no desire to actually give a hometown discount akd stay. If he’s planning on going to market regardless of all the pc stuff said, then I understand the desperation to find a legit 1C. If Mika wants to stay on a 6 year deal he should be signed period

Barzal gets "benched PLENTY for his effort"? Huh? How many Islanders games did you watch this season? like 2? There's nothing wrong with Barzal's effort. And it's not as much effort that I am talking about, but rather doing other things on the ice and playing a more complete game. Which I would say Barzal has improved by leaps and bounds since his rookie season. He's easily the Isles best player, by a mile.

No.

If he were healed or Improving they would have every reason to say so.

does he or does he not get benched by trotz for defensive lapses? Does trotz not call him out in the media even? If you say no you’re the one not watching the games my friend

this was not a knock on barzal it’s a point that these young star guys all need to continue to improve defensively.

Seems more like "faking" a neck injury would slow the process of him getting out of Buffalo?
