I mean let’s just say the Rangers and lightning had the same 3rd line of Gourde-Coleman-Goodrow.

Would the Rangers and lightning really have that different of a line up?

Points wise Panarin/Zib = Kuch/Point roughly.

Add in let’s say an older Laf/Kakkp/Krav.

Defense I think would be fairly close, especially once Miller and the 3rd pair young guys mature.

Goalie Vas>>>Shesty but I think Shesty could still hold his own.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Rangers are trying to build a Tampa-like model.

this is the wrong way to look at it.

Kreider will still be top 6 in TOI at the end of the day. He won’t come off of pp1 as there’s no reason for him to.
It's also another question should he come off. I think he's a good presence in front of the net, but could that #1 PP be even more effective with more skill? It's worth discussing at least I think.

No because he’s still awesome at his role on the PP.

It’s literally the only thing he did well last year.

It's not a scenario, nor is it doom and gloom. It is where they currently are at under the salary cap (assuming this deal is 3.6M) and what players will either need extensions of replaced over the next 3 years.

There is nothing to take exception with, besides, I do not think this was a good idea.

You make it seem in your post that every player they need to sign is going to command a 8/8 contract which simply isn't the case. The team has a good deal of leverage even after ELC's have expired.

I don’t see the forechecking and team speed with this group. If they win a Cup I think they do it in a completely different style. Obviously it’s hard to be definitive when we have no clue who the centers are in 2-3 years though

Also rans always try to copy the champions. Every sport, every year.

What are Gallant’s teams known for? Forchecking is a big one. It’s an identity that will be his responsibility to build.

Panarin and Strome as a duo want to play with that kind of a player. Are we sure Panarin himself needs that type of a winger with a different centerman?

Maybe they've decided the center they want isn't out there or that they want to keep Strome. Maybe they move Zib instead and try to sign Barkov. A guy like Larkin would need an extension soon, which would be rich. A guy like Eichel comes with a 10M cap hit. Strome probably costs 6.75M? Maybe they'd rather pay Strome and Barkov a combined 17M than pay Zib and Larkin a combined 17M. I definitely don't have the answer, to what is a very valid question. Even if Panarin doesn't NEED a player like that on his line, I doubt it hurts, and if Goodrow slides down to 3C/RW in a year or two because our center situation has changed or Kravtsov is ready for top six minutes, he'll still be a good third liner. Either way, I don't think we're going to be playing him 10 minutes a night on the 4th line.

I really think Kreider-Goodrow-Kravtsov can be a really good effective line. Also I think he can move up and play with better players in case of injuries

I remain in my position that the best way to improve our lineup would be to trade Buch and Strome, and acquire a decent 2-way top-2 center a la Dannault, Larkin whatever. Then, you can let the center do the dirty work in that line with Panarin and insert more skill on the wing in the form of Kakko or Kravtsov.

But we shall see what happens. Buch is gone it seems. Not a surprise considering Kakko and Kravtsov need to step up.

I'm probably wrong but can't help but think Gourde and Tarasenko will be rangers some cap hel and then Eichel or possibly another center instead but senko replaces Buch and Kravy. While I'd hate some of that I also like the depth and how you can roll lines and by my count cap won't be killed still would have room to add dman.

I don't want to give up Kravy or Lundy but to do that type of stuff they and Buchy go or if Drury could figure way out to keep one of Kravy or Lundy and include chytll well that be fine with me.

Ah yes. There’s that word again. “Intangibles”
This is not like a Holik/Gomez signing where your paying an above average 3rd liner a ludacris deal in hopes he over performs on 1st/2nd line duty. We are paying him Premier 3rd line money because that’s exactly what he is and that’s exactly what this team needs. He’s paid among the highest of 3rd line players because he’s among the best in the business.
If this deal was 6 years 3-3.25 no one would say a word. Really guys, don’t get bent out of shape at the 6 years. Few UFA s on all teams last the entirety of their contract with the team they sign with. This deal is to make us immediately better for Panarins deal, and help give the incoming kids like Barron a role model.
It’s not a terrible deal. It’s a UFA that’s signed to play among the top 3rd liners in the league.
If Goodrow sucks, and shits the bed, then we have something to gripe about. Until then chill the F out.
Right now this team has more pressing concerns and questions that need to be answered then paying one of the best 3rd line players in the league one of the highest 3rd line salaries.

We can't afford all of Gourde/Tarasenko/Eichel

only one.

-seems like Senko to PHI after being selected by SEA
-Gourde most likely being flipped as well to MTL

-Eichel trade to NYR

Gomez and Holik were not above average 3rd liners when the Rangers signed them. Come on.

Buch is as good as gone.

I put his number in the rafters solely for answering the call and going Simple Jack in the Caps game.
