Most plausible explanation yet

He deserves it.I'm fine with Smith being in the lineup, but as a top-nine F? Are you serious, bro? What the hell is this?
oh I'm not saying its been a problem...I'm just saying, in theory, we can drastically improve our record play playing that top line a ton...but overplaying them isnt necessarily best for the team in the long run.
That's what Quinn is and will continue to do though.
He's trying to win. It's why Strome plays over other guys at 2C because he thinks the kids aren't ready. This isn't some motivational "earn it, kid" strategy. This is a guy who left his cushy college job to start an NHL coaching career trying to win.
So I have some bad news about TOI and all that impacting our record. David Quinn is going to try to impact our record.
people said the same BS last year...it wasn't true then and its not true now.
No. He deserves it for a variety of fairly obvious reasons.Facetious?

I can tell you're interested in an honest discussion.....

He's a good lower lines winger. He doesn't play well for a defenseman playing wing, he plays well for a winger playing wing. He generates takeaways at a level people would be over the moon for if it were Chytil or Andersson, wins pucks regularly, and plays with an edge the roster lacks. Doesn't cough up the puck really either.I'm asking
He needs to keep playing well and rise up organically, like thousands of rookies and second year players before him. With that said, I dont know what Lias needs to do. The great thing. he's reunited with Lemiuex.
The better question is without using any form of the term defenseman or discussion about his contract say what you do not like about Smith's play as a wing.
They traded Namestnikov who was playing wing, so they need a wing. Who among Haley or McKegg would you prefer to play up on the third? Calling up Nieves to move Andersson to wing seems bad for a variety of reasons. Playing Nieves at 3LW instead seems worse.
I would imagine David Quinn would love to have Jordan Greenway and Koivu would be great for Kakko. Koivu would be a great stopgap at 2C if the Rangers are in the playoff hunt and still lack a true 2C.
How do you know he can't? Being on the 4th with plugs has been an excuse for a lack of production for Chytil and Andersson, but it's an indictment for Smith? He offers absolutely nothing offensively except for being decent on the boards, which is fine for a fourth liner, but as a third-liner, you should be able to produce on offense.

Only one way to find outHaha, can't you say that about every player? Hell, put Marc Staal on offense. Maybe he'll produce.
Only one way to find out
I see nothing wrong with giving him a game. It's not like the third line scores anywayRiiiight, but not at the expense of wins.
Look, if Smith is some offensive dynamo, I'll be the first to eat crow, but I'm sorry, I don't see it
