Running it back with the same group with a new staff is basically treating the symptoms, not the disease.

They really needed to make changes to both.

I don't see how they can make any significant changes to the team without trading the kids. At least next year the NMCs become NTCs and Panarin may be easier/more amenable to a move with only 2 year remaining on his contract

It may not be a bad idea to trade ONE of them.

I've made my thoughts on Panarin clear so I won't repeat them.

The foundation needs to be changed and I would re-evaluate.

Trading our young forwards brings you pennies on the dollar. It's poor business. Getting rid of young players does not change anything.

Blaming our failures on our young 3rd lines forwards.... on a ELC and one on a 2nd contract making 2M is asinine. It's like blaming your Medical Training Staff for your 5v5 play.

You want to shake things up with roster? You move a fat paid Vet. That's what puts people on notice. A Panarin, Trouba or Kreider. I'm not saying that's the right move but that's what shakes up the room.

Tbh I'm open to discussing anyone not named Fox or Shesterkin, but the deal needs to make sense. Lafreniere, Goodrow and Lindgren are guys who I'd move if they could add a legit cost controlled top 6 RW who could add an element we dont have have.

But you are right about Panarin. Everything we've discussed in this thread is moot if he continues to play (and be allowed to play) perimeter hockey and show zero accountability season after season.

It’s also really just not doable, despite most people wanting it. He has the NMC, and you’d have to find a team that’s even able and willing to make a deal work. Moving him for a package to fill out roster holes like a middle-6 wing and dman+ probably hurts us more than helps to be honest.

He’s still a good player, even with how atrocious his playoffs were. The entire team basically disappeared after game 2, and I’ve said it’s one of the biggest coaching failures we’ve seen in recent NHL memory.

Now to contradict myself: I like Panarin. I’d move him if it makes sense to help rebalance the roster makeup and distribution. I don’t trust Drury to pull it off.

Don’t see that happening for another 2-3 years due to the contracts/NMCs. But I agree with you.

Bingo. Fans are very much allowed to be disappointed in the young forwards development, but the Core 4 (lol) need a shakeup. I think Drury knows the culture is bad, but I dont know if he has the stones to read them the riot act before next season starts.

I love Kreider but people are lying to themselves if they think he's playing at full speed all the time. Half assed effort in game 7 for Mr. Game 7 was jarring. He and Zibanejad have been bringing out the worst in each other at even strength since Buch left. Time to end the bromance. They can make out in the locker room if they want.

Trouba grew as a Captain as the year went on but something tells me he still isnt the unquestioned leader he's made out to be. How can he be when Mika/Kreider have been here forever and Panarin jokes about how he doesnt play defense in his rare public comments? Waiting until the series was over to crush Meier was a joke too. He shouldve grabbed him and ragdolled him in front of the net in Game 3 at home. What better time then being up 2-0 on your own home ice to deflate the Devils further. He and the defense he leads let the Devils (who are basically Smurfs) do whatever they wanted to Igor all series with minimal at best pushback.

What can be said about Panarin that hasnt already been said? He's killed 2 coaches in 4 years and his influence made our best skater (Fox) into an overpassing turnover machine just like him. He's infected the entire roster and his refusal to play with the Kids in any situation is the reason our player development sucks.

Legacies are on the line for this Ranger team. I hope the players understand that.

If NYR are deadset on making a change and NYR can't move their NTC's would you do Laff, Goodrow, 23rd overall to Arz for Cooley(if he refuses to sign in ARZ) and 6th or 12th? NYR prob need to add but no idea what. Also Don't get me wrong I don't necessarily want to move Laff but it gives Arz a player they can market who is signed if Cooley refuses to signed there. It gives NYR a top pick, a top prospect and a little cap room to sign a 1 year deal (Zucker/Tatar/Nyquist type) to fill in the hole of Laff. Flame away.

I'd trade Lafreniere for Cooley straight up today if Cooley was willing to sign here. Arizona probably would to considering we all know how this situation will play out for them.

What did he do on the 2nd panther goal that was "positive?"

Got the puck out of the D-zone?

He was also partially responsible for the 1st goal against and basically tried to give the game away a half dozen times in OT. He's been good for him only because he's been bailed out by pretty ridiculous goaltending. Bob saved 5+ goals above expected last night which is Igor level shit.

Ridiculous. He wasn't even on the ice for the 1st goal.

On the 2nd, Gudas with a brutal giveaway leaves Staal to deal with a three on one down low on the power play. No chance.

I'm not saying Staal is great or anything, but he's been thrust into a role, once again, he's not suited for and doing a decent job for HIM.

Who is second in GSAA in these playoffs?

Andersen.

Andersen.

His penalty was responsible for the PP that led to the 1st goal against.

He didn't make a pass out of his own end on the 2nd goal for. That was the first one. He literally just stood around and didn't touch the puck at all on the 2nd one (great shift for Duclair, who was quite honestly Florida's best player yesterday.)

Never said that the 2nd GA was on him. I agree that was an impossibly difficult situation for him.

You know who is actually 2nd in GSAA in the playoffs?

Igor.

Bob's is more than double anyone else who isn't Igor.

It's not just hiding Staal's faults and f*** ups (and he's had plenty, ask Panthers fans how they feel when he's out there), he's done well to mask that Florida all together has been pretty shit in their own end for the most part this entire playoff. I think Montour and Mahura (who barely plays) are the ONLY members of their D in the green in xGF.

He did - I'm not sure there are any highlights of the 2nd goal before it being in the O-zone, but I'm fairly certain he got it out.

No. Bob @ 12.76 GSAA. Andersen @ 8.94. Igor @ 7.41

playoffs just further exposes for me that Ekblad kinda blows. Florida's D is in general very bad but they might have the best forecheck of any time since the Kings. with more than twice the talent.

Where are you pulling your stats?

Also he didn’t. I’m 99% it was one of the 500000 controlled exits that Duclair successfully completed last night.

He does. Forsling's numbers are ass this playoff but I'm leaning towards putting that one on Ekblad but he also got hurt in the Bruins series so who knows how bad that is.

Not familiar with this site at all so I can't pass judgement but thanks for passing it along!

That trade is insane from an AZ perspective.

So we are all in agreement then that Duke and Knight for Panarin is a good deal? The let Knight rehab and get back to it with Allaire to flip him to San Jose for Sturm. Bing bang boom.

Love how people pick on one game and use it to label a person. Did you forget Game 6 when he scored the first goal and set up the next 2 with great feeds. But it does not matter to you because you can't be objective. There were about 10 guys that slept walked through the whole series but no mention. Geez talk about having a selective reasoning. Your talking about a guy that scored over 85 goals in total the last 2 seasons. I will take that any day. But lets promote the guys that disappear for 15-20 gaems a stretch and yet we praise them because they got 35-40 points this year.

Kreider was one of 3 or 4 guys that was certainly NOT the problem this year vs. the Devils
