Senators future is bright, tell me why Panarin wouldnt wanna play with Tkachuk, Batherson, Stutzle, Giroux, Chabot, Sanderson, Pinto and the great Julien Gauthier(lol).

I agree he isn't now....they would have had to come down on him in playoffs in order for that to happen.
Because it’s Ottawa. As in the city of ottawa. Only places panarin would move to is south florida.

Options are limited, you need to get creative or think outside the box.

We need a mobile puck moving defenseman, now. Not in 3 years.

I wanted Chychrun. We got Kane, Tarasenko and Mikkola instead.
You can lament the STL move if you like, but to sit here and act like the Rangers missed the boat on Chychrun is a little odd. He went to Ott and immediately got hurt again for about the 14th time… He wouldn’t have changed the NJ series, and who knows if he would’ve even made it that far given his history.

by your popular demand
and invitation of a mod sanctioning same,

this post is pleased to announce
the RETURN of the bern

This am, another exercise in stupidity from a source I usually do not have as many bones that need to be picked.

No to all this ^ except trading bread.

Knoblach should be the next C, so youth may be served.
Have no prob w/Sullivan coming on board as an assistant, and getting paid HC $$$.
But Knoby or we go bust.

No to other nonsense which hurts our cap

If we trade Panarin, the candidates are Anaheim, Chicago, Florida and maybe Nashville. That's it.

Chicago may want to bring in Bread and resign Kane with Bedard coming in. They become instantly competitive and Bedard gets to play with some good players instead of likely suffering through his first 2 seasons with Dickinson and Blackwell on his wings. Haha. They also have the draft picks and cap space to take it on and not worry. Also also, Panarin has 3 years left on the contract, taking him right to the end of Bedard's ELC. The fit is there.

Anaheim and Florida are cause Panarin has friends on the teams and the teams are either competitive now or will be very soon.

Nashville may want to shake things up. They are the least likely to make the deal.

With Chicago getting the number 1 in this draft for this player, I think there is a trade there to be made. After that, it is Florida for likely Duke + Knight. No, they won't want to trade Reinhart and they don't have too.

You don’t actually think Sullivan would do that right ?

He’s the obvious choice and if not avail the AHL coach may get it sure

Again I'll repeat myself. Name a player who waived his NMC from a playoff team, to a non playoff team because they got less minutes.
Name.
A.
SINGLE.
PLAYER.

I legit don't get this board. Sometimes it's full of really insightful commentary,

Players want more ice time because they want to produce more. They want to produce more to get bigger contracts or they believe that they're going to produce more wins that way.
Panarin has his bag. No one believes playing Panarin another 2 minutes a game is going to produce more wins.

The amount of tax increase from NYC to Canada is drastic.
Ottawa isn't NYC.
Panarin took less money to come to NYC, he's not moving to Ottawa.
If he's moving its to either, Dallas (surprisingly decent russian population/zero income tax and a playoff team), Florida (they have no space for him), Maybe LA(they don't really have the cap, but they could probably acquire him), and Maybe Seattle.

Yeah, I dunno what you're going on about. I never mentioned anything about playoff teams or Ottawa. Even if the insult you'd thrown in got whacked by the mods.

I like Sullivan but Knob looked very good in short stint coupla seasons ago.
No prob living w/Sully
but prefer the explicit commitment to youth, and K knows our guys already

The funny thing about Lindgren; beside the fact that he’s attached to our best player, Lindgren is actually their second best puck moving Dman! I’ve gone back and forth on moving Lindgren a couple of times. But this team can’t make a move to be lateral at puck moving. I think you move Miller and you try to attach the Goodrow deal or some other bad contract will him. You use that to change the makeup of the blue line . It’s probably not going to look great on paper but the team needs to get better at what they are bad at

It's not about changing a series it's about filling a major need.

He's still young and under contract

Maybe I'm alone but I think Panarin can still be that player he was under Torts and in 2019... He needs a militant coach though...

Always comes back to Sutter. I have no clue why he's never mentioned by the pundits

I don't think you need a player of his ilk to fill said need.

His contract would be great if he could stay on the ice but he cannot. That isn't likely to get better as he ages.
I personally think he's too big. Would benefit to go the way of Kreider and trim down a bit and focus on injury prevention

Staying on the ice is a major problem... He wouldn't have been without risks... Maybe with better help he could figure it out. At worst, we'd pay what we paid for Tarasenko and Kane. Outcome doesn't change much this season but moving forward we have a young top4 LHD.

I'm still not moving Miller unless the Rangers are getting a blue chip prospect and a 1st back at least. Something like Guhle and a 2024 1st from Montreal.

The problem with Miller is that he hasn't decided what he wants to be yet. If he wants to be Marc Andre Bergeron, he needs to work on his shot over the summer. If he wants to be a two way defenseman, he needs to work on his defensive zone positioning and short passing in the defensive zone. Since Spit Gate, he has been second guessing himself. It's 95% mental with him. Give him a coach that will work with him and I still think he can be a 50 point defenseman on PP2 that's great in his own zone. You don't trade that type of player just for the sake of making a trade.

I move Lindgren 10 out of 10 times if it's between him and Miller. Whoever pays Lindgren next is going to regret it in year 2 or 3 of the contract. He's young but a lot of miles already. He's someone that declines at 29 or 30 and is retired by 33 or 34. Better to trade someone like him a year too early than a year too late. He's someone that will be worth more around the league than a lot of us think. If he gets dealt, I'd wager we'd be surprised in a good way with how much he nets.

He's not leaving his cattle ranch in Alberta to come to New York. It's Edmonton if Woodcroft gets the axe or retirement for him.

Too lazy to look but didn't he say back before he went to CGY that he would never coach the NYR?

Maybe I'm remembering wrong.

We can talk about the lack of structure, accountability or his mental capacity to handle the playoffs, but there has been a clear deterioration of his actual physical ability which shouldn't be discounted.

There isn't a coach on the planet that is going to get him back to his prime years unless he starts saucing.

Plus hes already gotten his bag. Some people just don't have it in them to keep exerting themselves like they used to once they've hit it big. Thats a pretty gigantic mental block and I don't even necessarily blame him if he can't get over it because 99% of the population would do the same thing. Takes a very specific type of person to do that and it isn't him. This is probably a bigger issue than anyone wants to admit, someone with his upbringing should NOT have any trouble dealing with adversity.

Signing him was a dumb move and we should really be looking for ways to move on from it. I don't doubt that he can be "better" but I know that nothing that he provides moving forward will be good enough.

I mean if they move Lindgren it is potentially creating a lot of problems. They can move him next season. Still need to worry about this season. They need two new dmen and have no money to do so. They can’t pay Miller extension and now might be a good time to pull the trigger on that. The D looked really bad without Lindgren on it and they still need him for now.

Some good items here.
Jones is as optimistic as any about Hartford's chances of coming back in this series, which is befitting his usually upbeat personality. But there was a brief period when the 22-year-old defenseman lost that spark.

After making the Rangers' roster out of training camp, he largely struggled in 16 NHL games to begin the season. That led to an early December demotion, with Jones saying at the time, "I felt like I was almost nervous with the puck out there, which, I've never had that feeling in my life.”
Not a coincidence. His time in NY ruined his confidence.

Please hire Knoblauch. Clearly he is able to help these young guys with confidence. The key to actually being good is to infuse those young guys and get them to be an impact at the NHL level.
