I hope to God Kane signs elsewhere so we don't have to keep reading the Rangers are going to sign him whenever he's healthy.

I mean, if you wanna say Panarin is bad in the playoffs, that's fair.

The idea that he's not good 5v5 is literally just incorrect.

I've been saying the team needs more quality passing forever.

"Too much passing" is a meme right up there with every fanbase saying their powerplay sucks and every fanbase saying they lose to backup goalies.

The team doesn't pass enough.

Notice Kane also isn't on here (because he's sucked for like seven years now) and Tarasenko had no chemistry with the rest of our volume shooters.
This team has overpassed when given a high danger shot imo.

Passing out of our zone or in transition didn’t exist.

I’m holding judgment on Panarin. This is his make or break season. I really don’t think we understand how bad our coaching and team play was with Gallant.

Absolutely ridiculous doomerism
we've made the Playoffs and the ECF with the worst 5v5 team. The only way is up.
The Atlantic teams are better so there could be one spot for that NYR/LI/PIT (can throw whatever other Metro team in there too) group. I do not think it’s a given, and I do not this the Rangers have a divine right to be there. This team definitely has decline potential compared to last year too. I think it’s going to be very tight; it’s not going to be as easy as last year

how do we decline if we improve 5v5? I agree though. Ottawa will be next years NJ imo.

My hot take? Devils don't make the playoffs or have a major letdown season.

look at 17. makes me sick.
Buch was handled terribly. I still it was the right move to trade him.... the return was the issue.

Blais getting hurt/sucking then magically remembering how to score in STL is funny too.

we need to prove that we have improved 5x5 first

devils will be fine in regular season, but have way too many lousy playoff performers. They will prob win the division but can see early upset

moving him was justifiable but just looks worse and worse. If they would have gotten a legit return this wouldn’t be so bad but Armstrong took Drury’s lunch money. Rookie GMs should not pick up the phone when vet GMs call

As long as he puts up offense no one will care.

Boston and Edmonton (and Pitt) aren’t complaining about Pasta, Leon (and Geno).

There’s two Hart candidates on that list. Come on.
Not a (recent) Stanley Cup champion on the list either...very notably so for Pasta/Leon...interesting

It’s a notoriously useless stat.

I think it's just more noticeable because this team gets high danger looks like July gets snow.

Cozens had 50 even strength points averaging 16:30 of ice time
Kakko had 37 in 15:18 of ice time.

Cozens is a center. Kakko is a two way RW.

I'm not seeing Cozens as anything other than even with Kakko at this point when you consider their entire game.

Kakko will hit 60 if Laviolette isn't Gallant 2.0. This year.
Who knows what the future holds, but Cozens and Boldy have been a lot better without a doubt. You're kidding yourself if you think Kakko has been better.

No surprise here.

No. People justified the move. That did not make the move justifiable.

Useless? Not sure how anyone can say that. Of course there are many factors such as ice time, and the fact that the guys who have the puck the most will always be high on this list. But giveaways matter. Turning the puck over matters. Taking the puck away matters. You can call this stat useless but the game today is so posession intensive that I think its disingenuous. The good teams in the league strike fast off of giveaways, even from all the way down the ice. The Rangers got burned by that all season and especially the post season.

Boldy gets 3+ more minutes than Kakko every game. If that translates to a point every 4 games, let's say, that adds 20 points to Kakko = 59. Boldy had 63

What I'm saying is that no one is markedly ahead of Kakko besides the two guys that I mentioned. I'll stick with that. Hopefully the future hold brighter things for Kakko who is likely, now, to get those 3+ minutes this year.

Kind of semantics and hindsight.

but he was moved for cap reasons. The issue is the return was bad, and they spend the open cap space terribly. If they had gotten the replacement part right, who knows. But as soon as the trade was announced and you saw what was coming back, you knew it was going to be a mistake
