I will honestly be surprised if Tarasenko isn’t a Ranger at the deadline. Senators aren’t making the playoffs in the east

Meh if Korp is solid, Batherson isn’t jail bait and they stay reasonably healthy they have more of a chance of making it then not imo.

I’m surprised someone hasn’t mapped out to the exact cent how we can add Kane in a few months after signing Laf and accruing cap space yet.

You’re all being lazier than the Rangers in their offseason training.

Kind of surprised that the reason tarasenko fired his agent wasn’t because he wanted to take a 1M deal with the rangers
He had that twinkle in his eye that said he wanted to be here no matter what

Work smarter not harder.

It's official. The Rangers can sign him when he hits UFA; trade for him sooner assuming the Coyotes still stink:

Surprised he signed now. Thought he would play out the season in college and sign when college season is over to burn a year of the ELC without being a part of a AZ season that is going nowhere.

I find it more likely that the Rangers suck at forward development than that Laf and Kakko both fooled the entire hockey world.
Show me an 18 year old forward prospect that entered the NHL with average skating speed and made an immediate impact offensively. Young players take years to grow into their bodies and figure out tactically how to succeed in the NHL. Elite skating speed has an outsized impact on making players appear to succeed during those early transition years. If players have elite minds for the game, they grow their games as their bodies catch up. Explosive speed becomes just one attribute.

Players like Barkov and even Adam Fox are examples of players whose other attributes took over. I feel fairly confident that Kakkos size, hands and growing tenacity will turn him into a bull in a china shop. He’s already proven to be a very useful player in many areas.

Laffy is a bit of a different case as there’s no one skill set or physical trait that I see as the backbone of an elite NHL game. Is it his mind? His physicality? His vision? I dunno. Something hasn’t quite clicked yet so he’s very hard to nail down. He’s like a future power forward with elite hands but where his skating is pedestrian you’d like to see his mind compensate. But he’s not processing the game at an elite level yet. As a result, he seems like an ok middle of the lineup guy at best. A bunch of things need to click for him. But I’m not convinced that just adding a step in his skating stride would be the answer. I think it’s more of an upstairs thing. How to solve the NHL game needs to click for him. He truly just may need a ton of ice time to sort it out. Unlikely but nonetheless my suspicion is that he may benefit from reps. He’s tended to look better when given more ice time. (Minus his slumps of course)

Okaaayy…

Move Goodrow and promote Blidh.
I was for moving Goodrow if it meant Tarasenko coming back with that money. But since that is off the table (for now), I would rather just keep Goodrow and see how he does under a new coach with a different structure that sounds way more conducive to his style of play.

We now await Kane signing in October/November and being LTIR’d.

No math needed. He signs in Decemeber for league minimum for 1 year. Easy fit.

Kane baby, give me Kane. November 1st signing

technically he'd still be at College with AZ.

As much as I like Tank I'm ok with not signing him. He can score but he isn't getting any faster. We need speed.
