I’m surprised someone hasn’t mapped out to the exact cent how we can add Kane in a few months after signing Laf and accruing cap space yet.

You’re all being lazier than the Rangers in their offseason training.
We're waiting for Lindgren to get injured.

It would be more beneficial if Lafreniere held out for about a month or so while his roster space is taken by $800k player in meantime.

Kind of crazy how high Panarin is on this; and that he is the only one on here. Not surprising though.

39 other names on this list. Is there a path to get one?

Panarin: "They yell at me for overpassing. But they won't yell at me when I make the list. :sarcasm:"

Fits with the Kane theme

I mean, if you wanna say Panarin is bad in the playoffs, that's fair.

The idea that he's not good 5v5 is literally just incorrect.

I've been saying the team needs more quality passing forever.

"Too much passing" is a meme right up there with every fanbase saying their powerplay sucks and every fanbase saying they lose to backup goalies.

The team doesn't pass enough.

Notice Kane also isn't on here (because he's sucked for like seven years now) and Tarasenko had no chemistry with the rest of our volume shooters.

This is fine, but I am curious if this metric takes into account turnovers. No one doubts that Panarin is the best passer and most creative playmakers on the team. But he’s also the boneheadiest turnoverest player on the team as well.

I wonder what his turnover numbers look like compared to the other top playmakers. These guys will obviously turn the puck over more than the average player because they are actually trying to make plays, but it’d be interesting to see numbers relative to each other.

If you line up the guys in the league that make the worst turnovers at any given time, it looks like a Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

Turnovers are one of those things that are visual, annoying, and easy to remember, but they cause way less damage than just not being able to do anything with the puck, e.g. 91% of our roster.

Also, having more passing ability leads to a simpler game because you don't need to do nine moves to upset the defense and advance.

Yeah, I disagree man. There’s a reason why not turning the puck over at the blue line is preached and beaten into players from the beginning.

Yes, the guys with the puck turn it over more by definition. But as with anything, there’s a limit and I am of the opinion that current Panarin is way beyond that limit.

I know nobody wants to hear this but Panarin would be better on a team that could match his talent and play around him with a structure.

His ability with the puck is on a deserted island on this roster. Of course he's gonna turn it over. If he doesn't break the defense by himself, it's dump in and then do nothing.

The only other guy we have with top six skill, and an understanding of what the f*** he's good at and how to execute, also plays LW.

Because every single hockey coach is your neighbor who waters his plants at 7am on a weekend and thinks everyone sucks but Bruce Springsteen.

It also depends heavily on what you're attempting.

I'm more ok with Panarin turning the puck over trying to cross the royal road than Lafreniere turning the puck over trying to *checks notes* move forward, or Kakko turning the puck over trying to beat the defense for the fifth time because he didn't just shoot the first four times.

I knew he gave the puck away a lot but….

Tarasenko didn’t complete a single pass his entire time here, I’m convinced. He was like Panarin with the cross ice passes except they got intercepted 100% of the time instead of 75%.
