One guy I want at some point either at the deadline if Wild is going in the wrong direction or UFA next summer is RW Ryan Hartman. He will be UFA at season ends. RW depth with skill nasty and forechecking ability, yes he is prone to take bad penalties but sometimes you have to deal with that with certain players and the way they play.

That hit on Ehlers is really f***ing dirty.

I like the idea though.

I love his game and he was able to play some center last year but there is no way the wild let him go and he will cost really good assets in a trade

Who were those skilled guys we had that were nasty to play against?

In before Dubinsky is mentioned…

Shanahan, Avery Callahan as skilled guys that can play top 3 lines. Boyle, Prust, Dom Moore, Fedotenko more skilled than any other 4th liners since than . Way better than Pitlick Belzile and other scrubs Rangers signed recently

Barnaby and Chris Simon during the dark ages

Not guys like Ryan Hollweg Tanner Glass Colton Orr that fought and did nothing else

Shanahan was in the twilight of his career. He was hardly at the “skilled” level he was at in his prime. Avery, I mean cmon. Really? Callahan was a grinder blue collar hard worker. He was not some skilled forward. He fought for every inch. Then you go onto mention more guys who just were not “skilled”. They filled their roles well. But not skilled. Barnaby and Simon nowhere near “skilled.”

We haven’t had those skilled and physically nasty players. Just haven’t. Not every team has Matt Tkachuk. Who did Vegas have in their Top 6 that fit that bill? Maybe 1 guy? Same goes for Tampa, Colorado, St. Louis. They maybe had 1 guy. It is all about the team identity. I truly believe a lot of that starts with the coach. And the coaches that can draw that out of group always have short shelf lives because its like an adrenaline rush; the Coaches come out of the gate on this high of how they are going to demand and command that certain identity, but eventually it wears out. You saw it with Torts. You saw it with Keenan. And I think you will see it with Laviolette. We just gotta hope we see the end result of Keenan and not Torts. Laviolette will have more talent at the start compared to Torts. By the time Torts got Rick Nash, things were seemingly turning, plus he just could not figure out how to utilize the talents he had, Gaborik/Nash should have been electric.

Bottom line is I think a Coach like Lavy is coming in at the right time. And I think we will be just fine if we add Tarasenko/Kane as the last piece to the Top 9. Maybe you can get one more body in here for the 4th line. Tyler Motte. Let Cuylle marinate longer in Hartford.

Motte stinks. Rather have Vesey on the 4th line if Othmann and Cuylle prove that they can play 3rd line minutes at the bare minimum. The obsession with Motte makes me think if I was not a Rangers fan that they let some important player. He’s a 4th liner that is injury prone. Can be replaced with a younger talent.

He doesn't stink. He has some speed and he had 10 points in 24 games last year as a 4th liner, that's a 35 point pace. I don't think we need him because we have other guys that can fill that spot but he doesn't stink.

I don’t care for that pace type of stat. Players go through bad and cold streams. That projection stat needs to go away. Makes no sense/

He does but is awful at fighting.

At least he is willing

First player in a while to fight brothers in the same season

He doesn't have to be Ryan Reaves. I'm happy that he will mix it up a little if needed.

Ok. He's still a decent 4th liner. He doesn't stink.

I am so confused. Motte IS a 4th liner. That is exactly what we would be signing him for as long as it is at or near league minimum. While he has battled injury, he is a productive player when he is on the ice.

Hey but he is no Tomas Nosek amirite…. *even though he outperformed Nosek in nearly every category last season*

The best net front Powerplay player in the world is not going to be moved from that spot. If you think that's an exaggeration, you can look it up. Kreider is the best net front player in the world.

As for even strength lines, it's almost too easy, which I why I doubt it is ever tried even once all year:

Laf-Z-Kakko
Kreider-Tro-Wheeler
Panarin-Chytil-Vesey
Goodrow-Bonino-Pitlick

What if I told you those lines make zero sense.

Kreider-Zib-Kakko
Panarin-Chytil-Laf (Panarin should shoot more and take over games like he can)
Vesey-Trocheck-Wheeler
Goodrow-Bonino-Pitlick/Cuylle/whoever

Confusing is putting the highest scoring left wing in the NHL over the past 5 seasons on the 3rd line with Vesey. That's really befuddling.

Not really a 3rd line. Top 9 and bottom line. The players are together in a way that would hopefully benefit them and their game. Laf, Z and Kakko have a had chemistry at one point with each other so we should see if the 3 of them can make it happen. Kreider-Tro-Wheeler explains itself. Panarin makes plays, Chytil can score. Vesey is a bigger Fast. Might even get Panarin away from top D matchups, and if it doesnt then another 1 of the lines is getting an easy matchup. And panarin scores that much cause his PP time and ability. His 5V5 play has been slowing down.

Pretty clear Panarin shouldn’t play with Trocheck so it needs to be Zib or Chytil IMO.

The Kreider-Zib-Panarin line when it was used sparringly by GG was dominant.

Panarin, Laf AND Kreider btw all have told Gallant “They are fine with it” (playing RW) despite GG saying “they don’t like it”
