Kreider 26
Mika 28
Kakko 17
Panarin 21
Chytil 33
Laffy 24
Goodrow 11
Trocheck 31
Wheeler 14
Bonino 6

I wonder when he’ll feel comfortable enough to talk about bombing out of the ECHL last year.
I think he realized immediately he didn't have the cardio and he wasnt gonna get good enough in a couple weeks.

One of the kids is going to have 30 goals this year.
Not very bold but I think they take a jump, each of them has 20+, 2 of them hits 25+ and one of em hits 30.

I'm going to be confident they are looking at this as a make-or-break year for these 3 and they actually get big minutes.

Either way, I think next year is going to look incredibly different. Whether that means these 3 are undoubtedly driving the bus, things are middling and we dump a couple of big names, or this season goes south and we're outside looking in.

Idk he was shooting like 22% in February.

Which was driven heavily by those 2 weeks.

He shot 25% for the month of Feb or Jan - When ever that hot streak was.. His 2 previous months to that were at 12.5 (he had a 22% October, but that was in 6 games.)

After that he hit the wall that we all saw.

I'm expecting that wall to not be there and it won't be the norm for him going forward, but its going to happen and then the debate is going to shift from whether or not he's a true center or not to wether or not we should try to sell high on Chytil (get ready for this stupidity.)

I like Chytil but signing Trochek to that long deal kinda sealed his fate here unless they can convince Trochek to leave.

Why? Why can’t Trocheck slide to 3C and the responsibilities shift between Trocheck/Chytil? They got Troch on a good AAV that will look better as the cap goes up in the next 2-3 years. They will be set down the middle 1-2-3.

Chytil and his 39% FO% should be nowhere near starting any shifts on the PK.

Chytil would be just fine partnered with a guy who takes the draws- such as Goodrow.

Disagree- this new contract was a commitment that we have a 1-2-3 punch for the next few years. I just think Chytil should be played more than he has been- 14 minutes a night isn't enough for a player of his caliber. Maybe that's why we didn't go out and break the bank on 4th liners- that unit of Vesey, Bonino, Pitlick should play at most 9 ES minutes a game.

I'd like to lean less heavily on Zibby-Fox on the kill, but we've reached near consensus on that point.

The Rangers had the most talent they might ever have last year at the TDL and lost in the 1st round.. it’s insane. Yeah the Devils played better but there’s gotta be a bigger reason than that especially because the Rangers rolled over them the first 2 games and in game 6. Coaching? Not enough will?

Then the Devils got steamrolled by Carolina (who we usually beat) without two of their better forwards.
It's not always about talent . Come playoffs it is will or lack of will to fight for 16 wins , For us....it was the latter and we gave up the fight after 2 games . Regular season success means diddly squat come playoff time , Kane /Tarasenko did not bring much will with them and we already had Zibs/Kreider/ Panarin/Kakko/Chytil/Fox and likely a couple I missed . We had the skill....but those guys don't bring much will or any pushback which is needed in playoffs . I don't think our owner and or Drury understand that .

Our coach did......but Drury sided with the owner and added TShirt sales type guys and basically left his coach out to blow in the wind .The coaching staff were very unhappy with the TShirt model additions and after making it known.....they got the blame for not getting results with a flawed roster.....Drury has to be on the edge of a cliff and be the next one up for release if they get off to a bad start ,

I didn’t see our failure as an effort issue- I saw it as

1) our transition game sucked and we were hopeless when NJd adapted a heavy forecheck to counter us

2) Panarin and Fox refused to simplify their games to adjust

What were their responsibilities last year and what should they be this year?

Kreider - between 30-35
Mika - between 30-35
Kakko - between 18-25
Panarin - between 25-35
Chytil - between 18-25
Laffy - between 18-25
Goodrow - between 8-13
Trocheck - between 18-25
Wheeler - between 15-20
Vesey - between 8-13

Between the rest of the grocery baggers and kids that make the rare appearance, probably looking at another 15-25 goals.

Then pair him with Goodrow and let him take the faceoffs

Totally unnecessary when they signed Bonino who is a good penalty killer. And you have to be crazy to think he won't be there. Bonino has played at least 100 minutes on the PK every single year for the last 10 years 0 including three straight years under Laviolette. He's as much of a guarantee to be there as anyone.

We need to find a way to get Chytil more ice time this season. Whether that’s on the penalty kill where his speed would be an asset, idk

Kreider’s ES time needs to be reduced as well. Give Kreider the top PP and PK spots, and keep his ES ice time below the kids ice time.
both these are accomplished by listening to bern
kid line = 1st line
Kreider - Zib - most deserving/best fit {Wheeler, atm?] = 2nd line
Cuyle - Tro - bread = 3rd line

this ^ increases kids which ups their scoring
they should be better just b'c ongoing experience, but that said
mostly reps at top line, + knowing that will remain the case,
will max their potential.

As a result, few minutes less for CK + MZ will help keep them fresh

I think the Trocheck contract is movable because of the cap hit. Maybe. But this is why they have to develop some centers.

One guy I want at some point either at the deadline if Wild is going in the wrong direction or UFA next summer is RW Ryan Hartman. He will be UFA at season ends. RW depth with skill nasty and forechecking ability, yes he is prone to take bad penalties but sometimes you have to deal with that with certain players and the way they play.

I dont think Kreider is hitting 30 either.

Also, i just have a feeling more people will be injured and missing some games. Since Ramsey is gone. And i dint mean that in a bad way, i think we had guys playing that were obviously too injured to really contribute well but still on the ice. Example being Troub the first 2-3 months last year.

We also have been extremely lucky with injuries the last few years. Can it hold?

If he doesn't miss significant time he will fart 30+ goals.
