Detriot stole DeBrincat. Ottawa traded the 7th overall pick (2022), a high 2nd (2022) and a 3rd from this past draft for 1 year of DeBrincat. Krochinski looks to be a very good prospect that the Hawks used the 7th overall on.

Zadina is a guy I would go pretty heavily after. It's a no cost move for a pretty highly skilled player with good underlying metrics who is 23 years old. He plays a position that the team isn't overly deep at and could be signed for a small, short term salary.
I’m not sure what we need is another under performing young player. Especially when half the board will want Zadina on the PP over Panarin to “develop him.”

There was a thread on main board where the majority voted that he is worse than the average GM, I think he is the best and this was a robbery of a trade
How is this a robbery of a trade? Maybe the real robbery already happened when Davidson got a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd from Ottawa…

Maybe the Rangers can steal someone from the Sens. Awful trade. Should have waited until a better offer. Stupid asset management

How many teams search year-after-year (some decade after decade) for a franchise goalie and never seem to find one? It's like having a franchise QB: when you have one, it adds stability to the team and it's a position that you just don't have to worry about. You can concentrate on other positions of weakness. When you have a franchise goalie, you treasure that goalie and say, "well, at least we're not the Oilers, or the Flyers, or the Leafs." or any other team that would give anything to have a goalie like Shesty. While I'm personally not ready to say that he is Henrik yet (one more top season would move him, IMO, into that category) he just very well may be.

It’s nothing like a franchiseQB. That’s center.

This team probably doesn't even make the playoffs in 2025 and you have a 5 year long culture of mediocrity.
Yea, and the Rangers were never doing a decade long rebuild. We’d all love a young rebuilt team, but they were never going full Sabres or Devils. Dolan signed on for a rebuild but it was never going to be 10-12 years of bad to mediocre now would I want it to be. With some of our early picks there’s no guarantee they get it turned around. Sucking all year just to come up with a guy like Kravtsov is extremely disappointing. Lias Andersson or Lundkvist. Two underwhelming top 2 picks in Laf and Kakko. Meanwhile you’d be wasting prime years of Igor and Fox. Not to mention Mika who’s the best center this teams had since 90’s Messier.

I get the Panarin move. They just vastly overplayed Trouba who should be making around 6 million per.

Sorry but an elite goalie is not comparable to a franchise QB. Few teams in NFL history have won the Super Bowl with average QBs....teams win the Cup pretty regularly with average goalies or even back ups.

He's far from the best. Brisbois proved he was the brains of that Tampa partnership (until he went full re-tard trading 10 picks for Jeannot).

Absolutely appropriate.

A goalie of his caliber is also not needed to win

So, get the 6 million starter and a backup for 2 and save 2+ for More important needs at f or D
You don’t trade Igor to save 2 million on cap. I’m not trading a Vezina just to go overpay someone like Goodrow. The only way you move Igor is if you find a young kid like Garand who can do a similar job for a fraction of the cost.

7-8 years is Satheresque. 6 years is fine. 5 years is better.
Top players usually demand full term. 7 or 8 years. You hold the line at 5 or 6 years and you might be letting a great player walk.

So trade him before that point. Goalies are so replaceable. I'd rather have a team that has to cover for their goalie than vice versa.

Do you guys recall when Hank took that shot to the throat in 14-15 & missed about 6 weeks. The team played their most aggressive hockey of the season because they had the mindset that Hank wasn't there to clean up the mess.

When Hank came back the team lost that edge & it showed in the playoffs when they were sleepwalking in that Pens series. Even though we won in 5 games, those games were nailbiters.

Everyone says “you can find an average goalie anywhere “ until they spend years trying to find one that won’t melt down at the wrong time or will get hot at the right time
Spoiled by Hank and now Igor. How many teams can’t find a legit starter for years in end then get stuck overpaying for a guy who may or may not melt down.

The problem with this theory is you need to have a team good enough to be able to cover for their goalie for the strategy to work.

plenty of teams have won super bowls with average QBs. Trent Dilfer, Joe Flacco, Jim Hostetler, all 3 Redskins QBs, Brad Johnson, Nick Foles, etc etc have all won super bowls.
