Unless the 83.5 cap is BS, I don’t know how they do that without bridging Key and carrying a 21 roster
I have said for months they were bridging key and laffy. Drury is from the sather school. Sather always bridges players. People kept tossing shit at me about it that they should lock key up long term but there is NO incentive for key to do that without a huge number (proportional to projected cap increases over the next 3-5 years) and nyr can't afford a big number right now. Was never rocket science with this. Goodrow isn't going anywhere unless it's a hockey trade opposed to a cap dump

bridge deals are how the Rangers do business. Key gets slightly more than Lindgren and Laf the Kakko deal.

The Rangers are bridging them. The Rangers don't have space for anything else.

Yamamoto is an interesting one for me. He has had some injury concerns but, while a smaller forward, be plays with tenacity and can shoot the puck. I wouldn't HATE the idea of a Kreider-Trochek-Yamamoto line

I know. I've said that for months.

The only reason Goodrow goes at this point is that once other teams execute buyouts they have an option fall into their lap that they like more and decide to free the cash, but I think at this point they know it's sink or swim time for laffy and kakko and if you rip Goodrow out of the bottom 6 and pk things look very thin very quickly.

I would LOVE hathaway. Get me my ideal lineup and im happy as a pig in shit

Kreider-mika-kakko
Panarin-chytil-laff
Othmann-trocheck-vesey
Cuylle-acciari-hathaway

No, AFP who is rarely wrong has hathaway at 4 X $2
Who is AFP? A fourth period?

Blake Wheeler is still good, and would probably come in cheap, but I just don’t like what we heard coming out of the Winnipeg lockerroom. Just a bunch of jerks all around. You don’t necessarily want a roster of choir boys, but they sounded completely toxic.

I think if you sign him you have to have a locker room that won’t put up shit.

Kane's agent told Brooks they havent heard from the Rangers at all since the season ended. You guys sound like my wife, getting upset about things that havent happened yet lol
Whats wrong with this org? Kane is legend and they dont have the courtesy to give him a call?

Then Laf needs to be in the top 6 with CK 3LW or Laf RW.

Exactly the only way Laf gets top 6 is moving to RW at this point
no, better to promote whole kid line to first line
kreid - zib best fit
bread humiliated to 3rd line

Really all this means Miller/Laf will be getting 1-2 year deals.

OK in a vacuum but case in point why the NYR have had a bottom 5 cap situation for the majority of years since the cap was implemented.

Always overpaying the Barclay Goodrows of the world.
bold is a contributing factor but not core reason
core reason is we do not develop youth

Only reason I would buy out Goodrow contract if it somehow helps us sign Miller to a longer deal now vs in 2 years when he would want maybe 8 million instead of lets say 5 million range.
No need to buy out Good can keep for now sell strategically 2023 when injury peaks interest/need

As I have said
KAM 6.25 X 8
LaF show me min 1 yr deal he is happy w/b'c mo mins on proven line for chemistry = mo pts = mo $$$

everybody else
no expensive vets, run elcs

I’m thinking Wheeler might actually be a good player to play with Panarin to do all the dirty work maybe put Zib or Chytil between for some speed

K’Andre Miller coming in at 4 or lower seems pie in the sky to me. 4.5 minimum. Closer to 5 is likely.

Getting rid of goodrow, and bridging Laf and KAM solves a lot - That leaves about $7m for a backup, 4C, and two RW? Backup and 4C should be 2m combined. Why cant we do Duchene at 4m and then find someone cheap for 4RW?

Laf - Mika - Duchene
Panarin - Chytil - Kakko
Kreider - Trocheck - Vesey
Cuylle - XXX - XXX

I mean , this works. I understand Drury's hesitancy in buying out Goodrow. If he would agree that running with a spare player on the roster is dumb (which it is) then I could see this being realistic. They COULD swap Smith with someone like Wheeler @ $1.5m with bonuses
