Halak played pretty well with us, and will probably get more than 1.5 we paid him last year. And we can't give him a raise. I'd love to re-sign him, but it's probably out of reach.

It's going to be Quick, an AHL goalie or one of the numerous #3s in the league. Out of that group, I'd take Quick.
There are a lot of options out there right now. Quick is not an improvement on Halak, but right now I’m more concerned about how much Drury will spend to sign an inferior option.

He can't afford to give the backup more than slightly above league minimum. Our cap crunch is real.

Goodrow needs to be on one of the top two lines. Those lines have no grinders as we saw against NJ. The problem with our top 3 lines was that none of the guys can battle on the boards and actually win the battle.
Kakko will be in the top six next season and he's one of the best board battlers for his cap hit. Not too mention how great he is at forcing turnovers in the o-zone and keeping the play alive in the zone. They can also move Chytil to RW who is not as good as Kakko along the boards but still significantly better than Goodrow and with a ton more speed. The rangers have no need to force a grinder only player into the top six.

Nah, they are the top contract predictor in hockey. They nail every contract. They had Fast at 2 X 2.3, he gets 2 X 2.4. They had meier at 8 X $8.65, he gets 8 X 8.8

They have a spreadsheet here predicting every single FA’s contract. Its a good guide

Thanks for posting. I always thought it was a pipedream that either Tarasenko or Kane were going to sign a bargain basement contract.

I know. I've said that for months.

I know. I've said this for months.

The only reason Goodrow goes at this point is that once other teams execute buyouts they have an option fall into their lap that they like more and decide to free the cash, but I think at this point they know it's sink or swim time for laffy and kakko and if you rip Goodrow out of the bottom 6 and pk things look very thin very quickly.
How long have you known and been saying this?

In all seriousness, what does Key’s next contract look like?

Jost or Steel any good at faceoffs ?

Fischer may be cheap

RFAs not qualified will give cheap options
