over how many years? he is gonan be 32 and has had some serious shoulder injuries no?
I love the way he plays but I don't think we should take the risk over 5 years.
I can't see him taking 4 million X3 years.
AFP projects 3X5 actually

2024 1st round pick.

If we start the season with

Kreider-mika-kakko
Panarin-Chytil-laff
Othmann-trocheck-vesey
Cuylle-acciari-hathaway

Lindy-fox
Kandre-trouba
Jones-schneider

Then realistically at the deadline you only need a bottom 6 player or two. A prospect might get that done or a 1st brings you a top 6 player at least. Its easy
At what pt do we recognize bern is right, and repeating the same mo will = the same results; and further, we MUST stop cannibalizing youth for foolish win now which doesn't work

If we Can sign ROR for around $4M, I’d consider moving Trocheck. It’s not much space but at this point 1.5M is enough

They have over 20M in capspace and you need a lot of money to convince a player to join a team where Peter Mzarek is the starter and Jarred Tinordi in your top 6.

I have no problem with teams spending some money for locker room / development reasons while Arizona will try to pay players in coupons.

PS Kyle Davidson, if you need someone to carry Connor Bedard's bags or taste his food, I'll happily do it for 4M.

Why? They're filling out their roster with veterans on short, easily managed deals that they can likely flip for more picks at the deadline. Exactly what the Rangers should've done.

Fair points. Arizona's LTIR antics were the real mockery of the league and it doesn't seem like it is going to change much.

But it is still jarring watching a team give borderline retired players 4 million just to reach the floor. Perry hasn't made 4 million in the last 4 seasons. Haha.

Imo you have to go into the season with the top6 looking like

Panarin Zibs Laffy
Kreider Chytil Kakko

Give them 15 or so games.

Build the bottom 6. Sign 2-3 Veseys.

Drury's not perfect and I wont fight you on every point because youre not wrong, but I still dont get the Trocheck hate. You need 3 good centers to win, and at least 2 who are defensively responsible. We have nothing at C in the organization behind Chytil and Mika, so they had to pay for one who will be here awhile. Trocheck had a productive year and only has an NMC for this season and next. He's not even overpaid.

Also my theory is that Ramsey got fired because of how they were handling the Lindgren injury. That was irresponsible for cap and roster reasons, in a season where a playoff spot was already in the bag.

The Trocheck signing drives me nuts because Chytil came off a breakout playoff round. It was completely unnecessary, and put us in a bad spot as our younger players get better. If Kakko breaks out next year there’s going to be a real problem, even with the cap going up.

The thing that kills me too is that I like Trocheck as a player a lot.

I dont hate trocheck the player. I hate the contract. Especially since we had Chytil. I would much rather of went for a good vet on a 1 or 2 year deal to give us cap flexibility.

Especially knowing there is a big possibilty of a flat cap (which was true) and needing to sign Laf and Miller who if they had a big breakout year would seriously have screwed us (luckily? That didnt happen)
