Panarin Zib Laf
Kreider Chytil Kakko
Berard Trochek Vesey
Rempe/Brodzinski Goodrow Cullye

Miller Fox
Jones Trouba
Lindgren Schneider

Start the season with Sykora and Othmann in the A, bring them up by Christmas and see if they are ready...add what you need at the deadline.

I feel like the rangers are just waiting to be able to move these high priced players and rebuild. I hate to say it but this core isn’t going to win anything

I disagree, what should have been the focus hasn't been up until this point, the team isn't going anywhere until the kids are ready and each year that passes makes it harder because they will eat up more and more of the cap with each contract signing. The core + developed kids can definitely win a cup but they need to turn the focus to the kids, the vets are who they are.

Go root for them. Tickets will be cheaper, so you’ve got that going for you
Does the truth burn?

To make the comparison fairer wouldn't you have to include the acquiring of Trochek, Taraseko, Copp, Vatrano, Motte and Goodrow; and the re-signing of Chytil, Fox and Shesty to great contracts?
You gave a huge assets for those players and we don’t have anything to show for it bro.

We have Fox, Shesty, Chytil and Trocheck, plus a trip to the ECF.
At this point in time that's more than the Devils have had since their GM took over. That way well change, but it was very weird comparison you tried to make...

Barbashev $5M AVV is worth more in Vegas because Nevada is a no state income tax state. $644,175 less paid in taxes between Nevada and New York.

There is a reason why all of the players want to play in Florida, Texas, Nevada and Tennessee.

Washington is also a no state income tax state.

All of our taxes in NYC go towards paying the pensions and retirements for sanitation workers and MTA employees.

I'm sure they aren't doing it, but is today the last day for Goodrow to be placed on waivers for purposes of a buyout before the window closes tomorrow?

Think they're exhausting all options, buyout window runs til Friday so no rush.
Wouldn’t goodrow need to be on waivers by noon today to be bought out on Friday, or is it he needs to be on waivers on Friday with the intention to be bought out?

I read C Brown is eligible for bonuses so can push that into next years cap but McDavid may want him in Edmonton

We will see a bunch of trades and buyouts today for cap space and mid round picks ?

Pacioretty fits the same bill with that:

Now, both of these players in Brown and Pacioretty have available to them a unique clause in the NHL’s CBA which allows teams to offer these guys contracts that are bonus laden. The salary can be as low as league minimum and then add bonus payments along the way. Much in the same way that Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci did last year with the Bruins. They got a minimal amount that hits the cap and then the rest comes in terms of a bonus payment at the end of the season that doesn’t hit your cap until as late as next year.

And the reason for that is because both guys missed at least 100 days last season on LTIR. They have an interesting clause that opens up and de-risks the opportunity for teams to add these players. I don’t get the sense that Brown will be a candidate for that. He could get a multi-year contract with perhaps a pay raise off of what he was making previously. Teams seem to be very confident in him, at this point.

What sort of "Win Now" player can we get for Perreault to help the team this year? You have to be concerned that he'll see the Rangers history with developing forwards and choose to play all four years at BC and then go the FA route to sign with a team more likely to develop his game.

Would rather Brown than Pacioretty. Pacioretty is coming off two blown Achilles, and he is LW. Brown I’ve wanted for a while. He is a RW. But feels like he ends up in Edmonton

Pacioretty fits the same bill with that:

Also anyone over 35:

Paul Stastny
Corey Perry
Nick Holden
Jonathan Quick
Jaro Halak
Ryan Reaves
Patric Hornqvist
Cam Talbot
Derick Brassard
Phil Kessel
Nick Bonino
Milan Lucic
Jonathan Toews
Alex Edler

But these guys would need to sign 1 year deals as well

Call me a contrarian but I’m concerned not at all.

The Rangers have other advantages. We are an original 6 franchise and NYC is a great place to live for millionaires. Some players want the experience of living in NYC while playing. I don’t think Rangers fans can really gripe with players not wanting to play here….

Not sure if sarcastic, but nah, not worried at all about this.

The NHL really needs to look at that. It’s cap
Saving for those teams especially if you add up the 20-22 man roster it becomes significant There almost needs to be some type of calculation that lowers the cap for those teams.

Really hard decision. I wouldn't take anything less than a first for Lindgren but for a team that is trying to compete now why trying to maintain some semblance of an open window trading Lindgren will not help with the former. We barely have an option for 3 LD. we would sorely be missing a top 4 LD and those don't come cheap. Not to mention the intangibles he brings.
Win now must capitulate to reality = need to acquire->develop youth so we have affordable depth.
Sell high on Lindy now, pocket the profit of assets returned, accept hopefully short term growing pains, then enjoy mo mins development = 2 new LD assets, robbie + Scan-meister

The time to move Lindgren isn't now. I get the logic but we should sit on that for another year.

The Gorton summer 2019 specials are the ones who really need to go.
NO NO NO
did we learn nothing from the Buch debacle?
Rs could have traded him earlier on when he had term at cheap/reasonable cost w/comparable production -> = MUCH, MUCH higer return than we got.
He barely had any rfa status left.

Sell high NOW,
listen to bern

I agree with the former, disagree with the latter. I think the bigger issue was moving the wrong winger in Buchnevich instead of Kreider. By doing so they simultaneously put Kakko and Kravtsov too high in the lineup while burying Lafreniere. Even ignoring his recent spike in production, KZ performed way better with him than without him. Buchnevich would’ve provided much better insulation to the team imo
respectfully no
Kreider is a stud, no ?, and he plays like one.
Buch is not a dud, but K is the keeper here.
Prob was not dealing Buch, but the return we got for reasons explained above.

Take this for what it's worth, which admittedly isn't much, but as my wife and I were leaving Sloan Kettering today after chemo one of the guys at the desk saw my Shesty shirt and asked what I thought about the rangers signing Jonathan Quick. Told him I hadn't seen anything like that and he said that's what he was told... by who? No idea. Just thought I'd pass it along for conversation that doesn't involve trading Panarin or buying out Goodrow.
The very best to you and the missus
at this time.
May the fact you are getting high end care be enuf to address this issue.
God bless.

I would not make the same mistake twice. Bring him back and dump Goodrow off to whoever takes him. Fast does everything we want Goodrow to do.

No.
Yes, we go a step backward to go 3-4 steps forward, but this is not that.
Do not add age.
Try to add the next, younger, cheaper Fast.
Also, not so fast, hold Good for now, plan to deal him during the season when injury ups his value.
Deal him now, we get like a 6th, no retention.
Deal him then, add like a 4th get a 3rd or maybe a 3rd and get a 2nd.
Why would you not do that?
Win now/instant gratification?
No, resist the urge to go there, listen to bern, usually proven to be historically right much of the time.

I like Schneider but he's undeniably blocked by Fox and Trouba for the long term, and will be making real money after next year. Similar logic to Lindgren if they trade him now. I expected nothing from Emberson but he was KAM's roommate at Wisco. Getting something out of him at the NHL level would make that Nemeth trade to AZ much easier to stomach
big denial.
JT ntc->nmc after this season that is reality
he knows while we like him, we like recovering most of his cap space more
POSSIBLY he agrees to be moved now IF IF IF it is to a relocation of his preference.

We're not that lucky. Better chance of winning the lotto than moving Trouba.
Again, he has some say in the matter but it is gonna be ntc, not remaining a nmc
After this season, if not before, 100% chance he can be dealt somewhere.

Maybe, all I know is that Trouba is the most unmovable player on this roster, no one is bailing us out of that mess.
See above, and most unmovable for a # of reasons is bread

Buying out Goodrow literally pays for Miller’s 1st year or close to it (3.6-4M). I don’t know how this hasn’t happened yet. (Unless they have trade offers).

Then it becomes 11M m+ of cap for Laf and whatever else. Which makes the cap look much better.
As I have posted, by not bringing back rental vets for $$$$ and adding elcs Robertson/Scanlin, Othmann, Cuyle we can afford to do KAM at full extend, not stupid short term bridge costing more long run, at 6.25 x 8.
This does not include Lindy to highest bidder for pick(s) saving 3m.
LaF is gonna accept min $, bet on himself a la Aaron Judge, happy to do so knowing he has chem w/kid line, which take bern advice = #1 line = mo mins = mo production.

I feel like the rangers are just waiting to be able to move these high priced players and rebuild. I hate to say it but this core isn’t going to win anything
A couple have to go.
Drury eff ups not listening to bern have made this unavoidable.
Howev, some guys can stay til natural progression replaces them.

Pacioretty fits the same bill with that:

pax NG = damaged goods -- did somebody say 2 blown Achilles' tendons?
DO NOT WANT
even as 1 yr experiment
NO NO NO

No to foolish idiocy of win now, which history prooves = epic fail 99% of the time.

No sacred cows, can consider moving Perreault if it makes sense somehow for sufficiently high/strategic profit, i.e., a foundation piece,
but NO NO NO
to cannibalizing youth for age adds

Counterpoint - all of our recent successes come out of the NCAA. I actually ONLY trust the Rangers to develop players coming out of college

@bernmeister Pacioretty blew out his Achilles in the 2022 off-season, rushed to return, and reinjured himself in his fifth game back
