THAT would be a surprising move to move Trochek after 1 season where he appeared to exceed expectations.

He's from Pittsburgh for what it's worth. Move out the contract, get a pick. You can keep Goodrow for the bottom 6 and have 5.6 to play around with. Unlikely but creative.

it's highly unlikely but it gives Chytil the 2C spot? Then sign or trade a 3c?

I'm not condoning it but it's the only move with Pittsburgh that would make any sense.

Schneider comes to mind.
Schneider for Moore/Wood/Barlow/Danielson? Interesting

Stars get Dadonov for $2.25M.... we have Goodrow for $3.6M

one of the many reasons why we never win.

Trocheck? only guy I could think of
whoa. But if he doesn't have trade protection yet... you never know. Depending who is available... If we can get Moore or less likely Leonard... I'd do it. Hell SOMEBODY worth it should be there. Maybe even Michkov...

I'd do this. Not Lafreniere though. Ship him west if you're dealing him.
I would not do Laf for anything outside of top 5, personally. And yeah, NOT to a division rival.

Or maybe Chytil would be the one moved...

Othmann should be penciled into the lineup when he forces a quality player out of the spot.

We blew a massive hole in the lineup handing spots to Lafreniere and Kakko that they haven't earned.

I agree with the former, disagree with the latter. I think the bigger issue was moving the wrong winger in Buchnevich instead of Kreider. By doing so they simultaneously put Kakko and Kravtsov too high in the lineup while burying Lafreniere. Even ignoring his recent spike in production, KZ performed way better with him than without him. Buchnevich would’ve provided much better insulation to the team imo

I'm sure Trocheck would be fine with being traded to his hometown team I just would be shocked if the Rangers moved him.
I hear you but... it kind of makes sense.
Trade Tro for 14, then trade 23 for two seconds. You've already got a high probability high upside pick, and then we could take both a safe floor and a homerun swing pick in the second...
As unlikely as this all is.

The Pens like to roll 3 lines that can score and Carter is slowing down quite a bit. I'd be surprised if they traded Trocheck at this point but if he's going to waive to go somewhere it'd be Pittsburgh. Pretty sure he has a house about 10 minutes from the Pens practice facility in Cranberry.

They're trying to address a few areas though so it'd probably be money-in money-out.

I could see them being interested in Goodrow as well.

If they had a replacement for Trocheck I could see it I just don't think the Rangers are in that business. But it would be out of the box and creative so I'm not against it.

I swear people think this kid is 26 or 27. He's gonna be a good player, he does all those things you mentioned above average, his shot, his passing and even his skating but people wanna dump on him because he didn't put up 80 points as soon as he got here, from a guy who was scouting players during his time in the Q you will all be pleasantly surprised when he's complete. He needs opportunity, confidence and a proper offseason of training. I said it when we drafted both Lafreniere and Kakko that they played like power forwards in junior and that it would take time for them to get enough strength to do it at the NHL level. I said the same about Howden as well, even if he isn't in the same class as the other two and he has finally turned the corner, same with Barron. Everyone here wants instant gratification but it doesn't always work that way, the fan base and the organization have no patience.
No. He doesn’t. There is no metric showing Laf is above average at any of those things and he doesn’t pass the eye test either. Lafreniere was James Bond in the playoffs because he was 007. Let’s stop making excuses

Howden got saved by playing with Mark Stone. He was shit in Vegas too until he got put with Stone.

It'd definitely be for Wood or one of the UDNTP kids if they fall.

I don’t hate this at all. Trocheck has a lot of term that I do not love.
