The Rangers gifting the Devils that series made them think they are much better than they are. Hellebuyck better be next for them or they are just another regular season dynamo that's too soft for the playoffs.

No. He doesn’t. There is no metric showing Laf is above average at any of those things and he doesn’t pass the eye test either

Howden got saved by playing with Mark Stone. He was shit in Vegas too until he got put with Stone.

This is blatantly false, i have no idea why people cling to this stuff, i agree he hasn't been what everyone expected him to be but he's not near as bad as people make him out to be and he's still a very young player. Howden got the opportunity to play with Stone because he was playing well, they didn't wake up and say lets put a bag of crap on the ice with Stone just to be dicks and it backfired on them.

I agree with the former, disagree with the latter. I think the bigger issue was moving the wrong winger in Buchnevich instead of Kreider. By doing so they simultaneously put Kakko and Kravtsov too high in the lineup while burying Lafreniere. Even ignoring his recent spike in production, KZ performed way better with him than without him. Buchnevich would’ve provided much better insulation to the team imo

Idk, trading our best 5v5 forward to play Lafreniere more doesn't seem like it.

Wouldn't hate it if it was for a short term deal. That cat can still ball. Doubtful he'd be looking for another big contract. Seems the type to prioritize winning at this point above all else.

Those would've been my guesses. Essentially swapping out Trochek for ROR with this core of players amd window and gaining another 1st rounder would be an unexpected but very shrewd move.

Should have known that was Kreider lol. Yeah ROR can still play, if the miniscule possibility of trading Trocheck to Pitt for 14+ replace him with ROR was on the table I wouldn't be against it.
