Who plays PP1 bumper? There is an art to team building.Circumstantial - obviously at current we can’t afford PLD. Had we acquired him at the cost of Chytil 3 years ago, not added Trochek because of that, and just re-signed him to the same 8x8.5 I’m taking PLD at 8.5 over Chytil and Trochek at 11, personally.

That's why the Chytil contract is Drury at his best.
We had it figured out with Trocheck. Then we un-figured it out.Bread, Fox and Zib are RH shots. We’d figure it out; building your team around the PP isn’t the correct art of team building anyway, as evidenced by our inability to play actual 5v5 hockey sinking us. Ice the best team possible, figure out the special teams adjustments as you go.
The key isn't giving Mika an option, the key is getting Mika the puck. The bumper doesn't have to be rh, when i was making a pp i always had the shooter ie mika facing the bumper for another option for the shooter, either shoot the one timer or fake and pass to the bumper for a shot. Imo this would be a real help to our pp. Id love to have Lafreniere in that spot, he really doesn't get to use his shot on the pp enough.
Trajectories bro.Or Chytil got that contract because he is turning 24 before the season begins and has just broken 40 points for the first time in his career. PLD just finished his 24 year old season and has broken 60 points 3x.
PLD has 220 EV career points in 434 games. That’s .51 per game.
Chytil has 122 in 327 games. That’s .38 per game.
Man, Drury really pulled a fast one!
Chytil would need to score 98 EV points - not total points, but all EV - in his next 107 games. Virtually an EV point per game, to close the gap. Since I’m fairly certain (like, bet my mortgage certain) Chytil will never score 98 points of any total kind in a 107 game stretch in his career, it’s about as certain as my having two hands that he won’t catch up at the same age.
Yes Bread and Fox can get him the puck there's no problem there. The key isn't giving Mika an option, the key is getting Mika the puck.

I can't do this anymore. Maybe tomorrow.Yes Bread and Fox can get him the puck there's no problem there.

Also having all this cap space tied up keeps the off-season from being fun around here.
Stupid Jeff.
As for Kostin, who wouldn’t love to have him back as fourth-liner who can score, hit and fight? But in Edmonton’s salary structure, as Holland focuses down on his bottom six, fourth-line players simply can not make more than about $1 million.
Edmonton is not qualifying Klim Kostin

Yamamoto, Kostin on the way out as Oilers' Holland looks to build Cup-winning team
As Oilers GM Ken Holland heads into free agency with a clear and present needs, it is obvious beyond a doubt that barring something unforeseen, both Kailer Yamamoto and Klim Kostin have played their last game in Edmonton.www.sportsnet.ca
I would not mind him. He always had potential. Worth a risk. Would be cheap forward depth
He was intriguing in his draft year; many on here wanted the NYR to take him. His career hasn't panned out that way. As a 4th liner who has skill, he'd be worth a look (obviously at the right price for a team with little cap space).Edmonton is not qualifying Klim Kostin

Kostin is also arbitration eligible.I think cheap may be a relative term, as because he won't be cheap (at least according to the Oilers). They believe he will command over $1M AAV.

How would he be cheap? Holland just implied he will cost more than $1 million….I would not mind him. He always had potential. Worth a risk. Would be cheap forward depth

Drury needs to grow a pair & get ballsy, I'm still waiting for a statement trade by himDrury is no better
Because he fights? I don’t see Kostin replicating what he did last year scoring wise. But even if he does, we cannot afford him or Motte or any 4th line forward who wants more than $1 million. He is better than Motte
